9 week old baby - dry scalp

Hi, my 9 week old has very dry, flaky skin on his scalp and I wad wondering what to use to treat it.

I use olive oil to treat the dry skin on his face, but don't particularly want to use that on his scalp as it will make his hair greasy.

Any ideas? Thanks Smile

Sounds like cradle cap, my DD had it from 5 weeks and its only now starting to disappear at 12 weeks. I used dentinox shampoo on the advice of my HV. You can buy it in boots for a couple pounds. I used it every evening on her and apply twice.
Hope that helps.

I agree it sounds like cradle cap and we also used Dentinox shampoo. It worked really well. But our son also had dry skin on his face which eventually became eczema so I would go and see the doctor about that just in case. He is 10 months now and we are still washing him with Aqueous Cream and putting on a emollient cream twice a day (was initially every few hours). Don't know if the two are connected.

Cradle cap. I was told it goes naturally around 3 months. Our baby is 13 Weeks and it's still there, but less of it. We brush her hair to get rid of flakes.

I used olive oil - (the nurses in nicu gave me a urine bottle with some in so just topped it up when we left - got some funny looks when i used it infront of other people!!)

We just rubbed lots in on a nighttime, put a muslin in his cot to save the sheets and washed it off the next morning.

Thank you for all the advice Smile
I may give the olive oil a go and see how we get on and if it doesn't improve/gets any worse will chat to the GP.

Thanks again Thanks
