Leaking nappies for boys - problem solved!

hello everyone,

I am a new father to a little boy who is now 16 weeks old.

My wife had done quite a bit of reading around but hadn't come across this idea, which I thought up myself. Not sure if this is well known, but it's saved us a pile of changing and washing, so I thought I'd share it :)

Basically when putting the nappy on, I do up one side, and then grab a small cotton ball and put it right at the top of his penis i.e. at the base of it, leaning against the base and kind of blocking it downwards. This keeps everything pointing down between the sides and towards the absorbent centre of the nappy. When doing up the second side of the nappy keep a finger on the cotton wool ball so that everything stays in place, and do it up reasonably tightly.

I hope that's clear enough, and that it saves a change or two.

All the best,

Patrick

wow, well done dad! I'm truly impressed!
we have 5 sons , 8 nephews and countless sons of friends, but I have never heard or thought of this before!Grin

I hereby authorize myself to grant you with "new dad of the year" award!

the only thing I can add is to use a bigger size nappy at night to avoid leaky nappies in the morning.

all the best and congrats on little dude!

I wasn't aware this was such a widespread problem.

I found that we stopped DS's nappies leaking if we went up a size and used larger nappies.
