She's not walking yet and just turned one, she's got a pair of soft leather booties last few days she walks with a walker in front of her and she seems to be enjoying it as she does it all the time ( bless her). Ive noticed that teh socks on with leather sole twist a bit and she struggles sometimes.
So should I get her shoes now? What shoes? Last time we visited Clarks it was about 2 weeks ago and she was size 2 and their prewalkers started from 2.5 I was told...

I say she doesn't need shoes until she is walking outdoors, let her walk in socks or barefoot. Not many people think like me though Blush

I've always gone on the belief it should be at least 6 weeks after they are walking independently, and the shoes should be able to bend in half, you can get shoes like these that are fine for outdoor use.

That, completely. Why cram her foot into something that is called a pre walker? It makes no sense. Ds won't be wearing shoes until its completely necessary! Mind you, I run barefoot so I'm coming at this opposing the fashion-damaging-feet angle.

I agree with all of you and if it was summer she woudl be barefoot but in the winter even i wear socks ( we live in old big house and the kitchen area has stone floor etc so its bit too cold)...i suppose socks for the moment then :)

In the summer we all barefoot here, including in the garden etc.

thank you for quickl replies.

Get socks with the wee gripper things on the bottom. Shoes not needed until she is walking independently outside IMO

We got my DD cruiser shoes from Clarks when she was 11 months old and cruising. She only wore them outside but she liked to cruise along play equipment in the park and would walk if you held her hands so her feet needed a little more protection outside than just socks could provide, it was too cold for bare feet plus outside I didn't want her to step on something sharp.

She started on size 2.5. Then got walkers after she could walk on her own and had moved up to a size 3.

My DD got her first shoes when she was able to walk and needed them for outside.

She doesn't wear them in the house, inside she either goes barefoot, wears grippy socks (Gap all have grips on) or on really cold days she has sheepskin slipper boots that have no sole.

Ideally shoes should only be worn when absolutely necessary - it is better for the development of the feet and for learning to walk to go barefoot.

Just looked at Cookie's link - DD had some of these when she was learning to crawl in the summer as she wouldn't keep socks on and was getting carpet burns on her toes so bad they would bleed.
