DH worried after taking baby out in the cold

My DH has in the past couple of days lost his mum and I was hospitalised for contractions with DC2 at 31 weeks.

He took DS out to the shop for half an hour in a fleece coat, hat and blanket but he and DS came back in tears, the weather had dropped to the minuses when they were out and DS was inconsolable for half and hour and really cold around the cheeks and hands but we gave him a warm bottle and he seemed to perk up.

I don't know what to say to DH as it really was a case of not thinking properly and in the circumstances he's been under I think putting the wrong jacket on the baby is not a massive massive thing but I am worried about DS getting sick.

Does anyone have any advice? Just looking for confirmation that a doctors visit for DS who just turned 1 isn't necessary really as he was responsive and giggly before bed as usual.

Just don't want DH to feel any worse than he already does. xx

Aww bless, sorry to hear about the shitty time you are all having Sad

DS will be fine, you don't get sick from being cold

I am sure he will be fine - he was just a bit cold and then got warmed up again. I felt like crying scraping the car the other morning when it was -6°C!

He'll be fine, it's not nice being cold but it won't do him any harm.

Being cold is horrible and upsetting for a child but it wont actually make your ds ill.

Your DS will be fine - he got a bit cold and being cold isn't nice, hence the tears. No more, no less. People in all sorts of extremely cold places - we're talking -40 sort of cold - have babies, you know :). You're just both understandably very stressed anxious and are transferring this onto DS - I'm sorry, it must be shit for you.

You sound really stressed, it was a bit cold but no harm done, don't be worrying about it.

Just another to chip in that ds will be fine. Hope your dp will be ok.

A fleece coat, hat and blanket isn't too bad at all for this weather! (Depending on thickness of course!) ...maybe dc wasn't even cold at all? If you say he perked up after a bottle he might have just been tired and hungry and grumpy! Don't worry ! :)
