My dd at around 8 weeks would sleep from 10pm-6am and has even slept 10-9am a few times, but the past week she has started waking in the night the past few it's been every 2-3 hours and the only thing that will stop her screaming is feeding her. As she has been able to go through the night without should I be feeding her? I have a 2yr old too so I'm conscious bout her waking her if she screams for so long. Anyone have any hints or tips to try? I can't see a light at the end of tunnel at the mo..

Hiya. My baby from about 4 weeks slept through the night from 8.30 to 7. Then he had his 3rd lot of injections and he was waking in the night and had no udea cuz it wasn't a pain cry from his injections so had no idea why he was waking up, I would just give him milk and he will then go back to sleep but then I didn't want to get him in the about of feeding through the night again so I tried him with a dummy and it worked fine he then after about 2 weeks starting going all through the night again and he is not hooked on his dummy :-) I think they break a routine but quickly get back into. I hope your baby sleeps fine again soon :-)

Hi, I know its hard but i would just feed him. This age is classic growth spurt time and they need the calories. Things will settle down again in time.

Another one experiencing this. DD2 nearly five months, had only just started doing long stretches of 6-7 hours a night, so I was still getting up but only once and we had our evenings back (it was great for all of 2 weeks!), but after her injections and a cold she has reverted back to 3-4 hour stretches. She was down to 5 bottles a day, but has gone back up to at least 6.

Most things I read say if they are taking a full feed/bottle and not just waking up out of habit (same time every night) then it is probably a growth spurt, the advice seems to be to just go with it for now and hopefully they will be back to longer stretches in a couple of weeks.

Personally I am going to just go with it for a couple of weeks and if she hasn't settled down and is still acting super hungry in the night then I will probably start her on baby rice/cereal at 5 1/2 months.
