Does your 3.6 years old toddler still have a nap during the day?

my dd stopped napping about 9 months ago apart from very occasionally if shes in the car or something. It seems to be working fine, she is rarely over tired and goes to bed easily and quickly at 8.00.

She started nursery a few months ago and they seem keen for her to nap there with the other children, problem is when she naps there she wakes up (after 2.5 hours) completley out of it and doesn't really come round til about 5.00, she is then a wake til 10.30!! i'm finding it eshausting and she is really unmanagable in the afternoons, she acts as if shes been woken up in the middle of the night..I want to go back to picking her up at 1pm as it was all so much easier but the nursery seem to think she should be sleeping,..should I carry on with the nap or pick her up at 1pm?

My dd1 is 2.10 and dropping her nap. If she sleeps she would happily have a 2.5 hour nap, but then doesn't go to sleep until 930. Nightmare! But the time she is 3.5 I doubt she will need a nap, and am surprised nursery are making a child of that's age nap. If I were you I would pick her up at 1 . You don't need to pay for her to have snap there and then have a horrible afternoon, especially when she can clearly cope without.

dd had a nap until she was 3 but ds gave his up by the age of 2. I wouldnt be happy if they let them nap for hours and then stayed up late in the evening. If she has given up the nap then tell the nursery she doesnt need to nap or pick her up early. 3.6 years is quite old to still have a nap.

My 2 year old struggled to get to sleep when nursery were encouraging him to have 2.5 hour naps every afternoon, so I just asked them to wake him up after an hour. The first teacher he had ignored me Angry but then they had a change of staff and the next teacher was more than happy to do it. DS went back to sleeping at 7 every night rather than nearly 10 o'clock!

DD is 3.6m and still sleeps for a good two hours in the afternoon but if yours doesn't at home and it's affecting her sleep then insist that they don't put her down for a nap. Most children have given up their nap by this point (I mean, they're in nursery school at this age and they don't give them a nap!).
