Hi,
I have a 2 year old son and another baby due in 6 weeks. My son was born in Australia, and we've spent the last 5 months in the UK (where I'm from originally) and now we're settled in Ireland, hopefully permanently!
I'm used to having access to lots of playgroups, tumble tots, play centres etc. Until moving here we didn't live near any family so we were used to making the most of other forms of toddler-friendly entertainment. The problem I have at the moment is that I don't seem to be able to find the equivalent things over here. My husband's family live nearby and are a great help, but I'd also like to be able to take my son to different activities, and also get to know people myself this way. At the moment we've only managed to find a toddler group at the local community centre, which is great but only fills 90 minutes of our week!
Does anyone know of any organisations or groups which provide play activities for toddlers or babies in Ireland? I've tried contacting people like Tumbletots and JoJingles in the UK - the nearest groups like these seem to be in Belfast which is over an hour's drive away. The NCT gave me the number of the Irish Childbirth Trust so I've left them a message asking if there's anything in my area. I'm specifically looking for things around Dundalk but please let me know if you know of anything at all in the area between Belfast and Dublin!
thanks very much,
Ceinwen.
