Moving to Italy at 34 weeks pregnant

Hi,
Am hoping someone can give me some advice. We're moving to Rome at the end of the month, and first baby due on 15th October. Am trying to work out healthcare.
Going with husband's job. Both British, but been living in Uganda for the past 4 years. Have a current EHIC, but been a for a few midwife appts in the UK (currently over here visiting in between moves) and had a letter from NHS overseas dept querying my eligibility. So not sure if filling in an S2 form will make them decline it all!
So, will my EHIC card be enough to have the birth covered in Rome? Or will I have time to register with the Italian health system?

Is your husband employed by an Italian company? If do it is quite straightforward, all you need to do is take up residency (at local "anagrafe" office), then you can register automatically with the local health system.

If he's selfemployed, or deployed here by an overaeas company it gets more complicated. I worked in relocation for a bit so I know a few things. Pm me if you want to know more, I'll try and help, if I can. You will definitely need a notarised translation of your marriage certificate for a start.
