Looking for a mattress topper. Recommendations? What are Ikea like?

My mattress has grown lumpy and bumpy so I am looking for a mattress topper.

I don't think I want memory foam as I have heard they can make you hot. I would be interested to hear opinions on this.

I don't think I want a "duvet" style as surely they will quickly become thin, patchy and functionless?

Ikea have some reasonably priced "normal" foam ones which I am looking at.

Just looking for general comments or recommendations.
