Hi I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place but here goes... My Sister and her partner have three kids aged 9, 6 and 5. Last week she was broken in to during the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping. This is the second time in 18 months.

The thieves took a few itmes such as kids xbox, an ipad etc. They also took a laptop with all her family pictures and photo albums which contained pictures of her eldest sons dad (he was killed in a bike smash when his son was 4 months old).

This has hit her family hard on top of other stuff that has happened. She suffers from depression and anxiety attacks.

She is looking to move house, but her housing association are unwilling to help, I'm on here asking for advice on what I can do to help. Thank you

that sounds terrible for your dsis and family. Does she have any photos backed up or on email? Does she have any kind of tracking software installed similar to Find my Iphone?

In terms of housing, I can't really help but you may get more replies posting in a busier area of Mumsnet with more info in the title about what help you need. Is there any way she can increase security in the meantime? The HA may be able to help with this eg alarms, increased lighting.

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't sure on where to post this to be honest. The HA have been unwilling to help saying if they don't have to they won't. She is using find my iphone but nothing yet.

You could try an appeal for return of the Data, even if its been deleted it can be retrieved if you know what you are doing.
Pop in to Cash converters etc incase some one has sold it on.
Have any family got pics? Get them and give some one else copys.
I would also get a dog, its reassurance for the family and will make them feel safe.
You do need to train it to only eat when its told to though, its quite easy to do. You don't need a big one we have two guard dogs and they are small and sleep all day but the slightest noise they growl quietly if it returns they will bark. They can actually tell which of us is walking up the path and don't make a noise if I come in in the middle of the night as they know its me.
Remember the dog is a family activity, choosing, walking training and another thing for them to love.
