It will be my mother's 80th birthday soon and we are having a cake made. She is very welsh and proud of it and would be thrilled if the cake wording was in welsh. So, how do we spell the following in welsh?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ON YOUR 80TH MAM.

Thanks.

I think the '80th' bit is tricky in Welsh. You could try

PENBLWYDD HAPUS MAM (happy b'day Mam)
80 MLWYDD OED (80 years old)

But my Welsh is a bit rusty (2nd language, and I left Wales when I went to uni, never to return) so maybe there are some native speakers on Mumsnet who would have better ideas!

Many thamks Zoya. I never actually learned welsh even though both my parents are welsh and speak the language. (Well, I can count to 10)!

Dh is Welsh 1st language, and I know a bit. What Zoya's put sounds good, but I'll check with him & come back.

My dh is suggesting
"Penblwydd Hapus, ar dy benblwydd wythdeg"
but I think Zoya's sounds better myself

Cheers. Thanks for finding out for me. I shall be ordering (alas, not baking) the cake next week. I know my mom will be thrilled (and probably emotional). Thanks again.
