Problems with PPP

Dh has medical insurance through his company with PPP. Last year, I was refered to a consultant from my GP for a consultation for inability to conceive. PPP said that they wuld cover the cost of the consultation but they did not cover any costs relating to infertility treatment. After the consultation I went back to them to explain that I needed a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, and could I use the same claim form? Oh yes, they said, you don't need another one for the operation.

So, I go in to hospital for the day, come out dead groggy after "general" to find a letter dated the DAY before I went in from PPP saying that they would not cover any costs. These now amount to £1200.

PPP have denied any knowledge of my call regarding the claim form, despite the fact that they record all calls, and I can supply them with a date and a 10 minute window when the call took place. What I cannot tell them is the operators name.

My consultants secretary has been very supportive on my behalf, and has contacted PPP herself. She tells me that many of her consultants patients with the same problems are being paid for by PPP, no problem.

PPP have sent me repeated standard letters, one of which was dated 5 days before the operation itself, which I received 2 months later, along with a letter to a complete stranger regarding his treatment at a London hospital!

Can you believe it??!! So, SO unprofessional.

Has anyone else suffered a similar problem?

I'd be glad of any help and advice...

Thanks

fms, what a nightmare! I'd recommend that you join the Which? Legal Service. You get to talk to a consumer lawyer who will tell you exactly what to write etc., and if you have to take PPP to court over this they'll help you with filling in the forms. We paid £35 for an annual subscription, and you get unlimited advice. Here's their web site:
