Don't know Manchester but do be cautious. The advice I was given was if they ask for money upfront don't join.

most charge an admin fee though don't they?

Sorry jumped in and I'm not an expert but admin fee should be minimal and genuinely admin. I idiotically paid about 150 quid.

The Pat keeling Agency in leicester has a good reputation

they do a lot of bookings for next

It might be worth contacting them for there info on payments etc and what to expect and use that as a bench mark for an agency nearer home for you

Or even ask them if they know of a manchester agency 9you could ask if they have an outlet local to you and see if they offer anything up)

Hi, my children are models with a london agency, and i was very lucky in finding a genuine agency with which there was no initial out lay. However it is common for the agency to take a fee from any work carried out by your child, for example 25% which seems pretty common across the board. My agency has now satrted charging yearly but it is still only around £40 per child, and they are an agency with a good reputation.
I would be wary about agencies that claim they provide the children for certain campaigns, most clients book through castings as do Next who actually shoot most of their catologue in Miami with american kids. a casting is like an audition where a client takes a picture of kids that have been pre selected to attend, and then decide who they want, a casting fee is normally paid at around £18 per casting, so if you have to travel you kind of get your expenses paid.
All this said i know nothing of manchester agencies or how it works there, AFAIK most castings and jobs are in London, but then I have no experience of manchester so wouldn't know how it works. Whatever you decide good luck

I have sent pic's off of my daughter to 5 modelling agencies, so far she has had provisional acceptions from BizzyKidz, Little Acorns and Juliet Adams, can anyone give me any advice or share any experiances with them? So far it seems that Little Acorns are the only ones who want to actualy meet her before asking for a £120 fee, although I have heard good things about BizzyKidz

Models direct are are scam.
Please join Parents of Child Models UK on Facebook for correct information on other agencies.
Please also see the post I made tonight with the correct conduct of real agencies compared to those that are a scam.

Tiny Angels have their books open until 10th Jan. Bonnie and Betty, Boss are closed.
There is Fearless, Drama Mob, Little Allstars, Kids Manchester (v.good agency). There are more but it's about being patient and waiting until the books open x

Can anyone recommend a modeling agency in the midlands area please.

Report
Milkybuttons15 · 15/03/2016 13:40

As jobs/castings tend to be in Manchester/London or surrounding areas it's not important where the agency office is based really.
You would have to choose wether you would be prepared to travel either North or South and choose an agency that covers the area. Some agencies cover both X

STAY AWAY FROM STUDIO 44 / MODEL AGENCY THEY ARE A SCAM, UNFORTUNATELY THEY GOT ME, BUT I HAVE NOTIFIED TRADING STANDARDS AND I AM IN THE PROCESS OF ESTABLISHING IF I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK VIA THE SMALL CLAIMS COURT. HAVE A LOOK AT THE REVIEWS OF STUDIO 44 POSTED ON FACEBOOK, ALL THE POST TALK ABOUT IT BEING A SCAM. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO EXIST. STAY AWAY IS ALL I CAN SAY, OR THEY WILL GET YOU TO PAY A LARGE FEE FOR PICTURES KNOWN TO THEM AS THE REAL IMPORTANT PORTFOLIO THAT YOU WILL NEED TO GET YOUR CHILD WORK IN THE AGENCY. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM.
