Preschool - 3 hour session is £10 without grant, £1.70 with grant. I suspect this may be at the high end of the going rate, will be interested to see.

Not pre-school then, they usually take them from about 2.6yrs. Nursery?

I'm in Greater London and the one I work at charges £7.26 per session (min of 2 sessions a week). This is a 2.5 hr session btw. The one down the road charges £6.50 but haven't as nice premises

Sorry, i'm confused now! Are you talking about pre-school/playgroup where you drop them off for a morning or afternoon session?

foxtrot · 02/02/2007 18:17

Grant usually kicks in the term after thier third birthday.

Yes pre school/playgroup thing. The same thing tends to have different names round here. Some take them from 18mths some 24mths and others not til 30mths.

Ours works out to £10 per four-hour session. We're in London. But to be fair, you pay and you do shifts, iyswim. 20 months and up.

I was under the impression nurseries were more expensive than childminders? My child minder costs £4.50 an hour to look after dd (10 months).

They take them from 2yrs round here morning or afternoon sessions each session is 2.5hrs, my ds goes from 9am - 11.30am its free because he is now 4.4 but when we used to pay which is up till the term after they have turned 3 it was £8.50 this is in surrey.

So £12 does seem a bit steep then! (also Surrey)
