I went to pick my son up from nursery and he got a bit tearful when he saw me. When I cuddled him he was a bit hot. The nursery teacher said he had not eaten anything nor had he been joining in any of the activities and was being very insular which is not like him at all.. As he is just potty trained and has ha a few accidents I asked how that side of things had been. she said he hadn't been at all.for 5 hours!!!!

Now am I being ott or but isn't 5 hours a bloody long time for a just potty trainedchild to go without? And when a normally bubbly child is so quiet and loses his appetite shouldn't his temp been checked? Don't know whether I am being oversensitive?

dipseymummy

I childmind a child that has been trained for about 2 weeks & this afternoon I discovered that she hadn't been for about 5 hrs

I was surprised but had asked her several times if she needed to go (& sat her on once but she didn't)

It is difficult to always "notice" a child is withdrawn - how many children were in the room today? & how old is your DS?

Temperatures can come on very quickley - how is he now?

Hi-There were about 8 children.
The only reason i was annoyed was that the the two previous visits to nursery he had wet his trousers twice ie 2 changes!!!
They informed me themselves that he hadn't eaten anything, hadn't joined in any activities and wasn't himself.
katymac-am I right in that you were on a previous thread about opening a nursery?

this has happened to me but i know that my DDs nursery would have called to let me know. Don't know how old you son is but the ratio i assume is no higher that 1 carer to 4 kids so how the hell can they not notice that he hasn't gone to loo and why couldn't they have picked up the phone just to inform you? I wouldn't be happy if i were you.x

I'm not, and haven't been for a while.the worst thing is it is a big chain(don't know if I can mention the name) and one of the more expensive ones. Am actually going to see one this Friday that one of the mumsnetters actually runs.
