At ds nursery theres been a huge change of staff and to be honest they dont seem to be that nice. Anyway ds has just turned two and you know what 2 year olds are like. Ive just picked him up and asked if hes been ok and this nursery nurse said he had been taking toys off other children and she could tell in his eyes he knew what he was doing etc and i felt really annoyed by that as it werent what she said it was the way she said it. For one hes 2 years old, hes also any only child and thirdly his daddys away down the gulf and the nursery actually caters for service people so surely they should know children go through phases especially when their parents are away. The thing is thats why he goes to nursery to learn interaction skills but she sort of said it in a way that i should be dealing with it. But isnt this part of their learning. Obviously if i see it myself i intervene and tell him no but i know he just thinks its a game and he isnt being spiteful or anything.

Are you sure he knows what he means? My DS1 is always telling me rambled stories about his day and it's only very recently that I'd say his account matches his Fathers/my Mums account.

Misread this...sorry...need to read these twice. Ignore my comment. Yes I'd be annoyed at nursery staff...all part of growing up IMO.

If I was in some way suspicious about the nursery, I would find an excuse to make a surprise visit and hang about a bit and observe very carefully how the carers interact with the dc. I would come back saying I'd forgotten to bring ds' lunchbox or hat or drink or some such thing. You have to really feel your dc are in good hands.

Find this statement about her reading something in his eyes odd.

agree with SSSandy - I would turn up at not-the-normal time and observe. What the nurse said sounds a bit odd - he's only 2, this is what 2 yr olds do! My dd's nursery would never make an issue out of it, it's normal behaviour.

There are better ways of telling you your child is doing something inappropriate.

He is 2 and although he needs to learn good behaviour, he is only small!

I would check up too.

Speaking of surprise visits, when I sent dd to her second nursery there were a few things I didn't feel good about (rightly so as it turned out and I moved her later). I dropped her off, and then turned up outside later, walking past the nursery play area with glasses on and a beret feeling quite disguised.

"Hey dd!" call a bunch of dc - "There's your mum", so a horde of them ran over to me at the fence followed by the carers to see what it was all about. Felt SUCH a fool but it was definitely right to take her out of that place.

allthreerolledintoone, sounds like the nursery nurse doesn't like your ds. When my ds was at kindergarden in Germany one of the women didn't like him or little boys in general really, I could tell she didn't like him and in the end he didn't like her either. I only sent him there to learn German so he didn't go for long but what you described just brought back the memories of how awful she was. In the end ds called her "that witch" when he spoke about her to me.
Is it possible to change groups?

Theres been a huge change over in staff so dont really know them that well. This is the first time ive heard anything negative as normally they are always saying how good he is and how cute hes been.I will definitely be keeping a closer eye on the situation and having a word next time.I know at home he can be very demanding etc but hes not a spiteful child and the nursery nurse who used to look afetr him who was lovely said hes never had a tantrum there. She even made a joke of how he kept turning the central heating switch on even when she said no and he was laughing-thats what 2 years olds do lol
