Nursery in Canary Wharf and settling in advice

Dear All,

I have just started my 1.5 years old in Little Unicorns Canada Square nursery in Canary Wharf. I have read old reviews on this nursery and they were all very positive. The Ofsted report from 2013 came out good and there were just little things they need improving.

My LO will be attending the nursery for just one day a week (and since I am working part time 4 days a week, he will spend the rest 3 days with his lovely nanny). We have been gradually settling in the LOs over last week and he's been attending the daycare with his nanny every day this week for playdates twice a week. Unfortunately our son is not taking on the nursery very well. He was crying last week and we couldn't leave him on his own there for more than 10 minutes. Today is his nursery day and for the first time my husband had to drop him off and leave him there on his own. I called two hours after and was told that he is upset/distracted but not crying. So far, the nursery staff is very friendly and we like his key person, who seems to be very experienced too. But we decided that we will pick him up after half day at first (just taking half day off from work each Wednesday) until he settles in.

I just wanted to ask all of you if you had similar exeriences with settling in your LOs and how long did it take them to settle in?

Also, has anyone of you send their kids to Little Unicorns do Canada Square and what do you think about them? Do anyone knows any rumours (good and bad) about them?

All I can think off today at work is that my little one is left with "strangers" (though he knows his Key Person and she seems to be good) and I am getting so worried!! :(((

Any help/advice/opinions highly appreciated.

Thank you so much!

It takes a while for them to settle sometimes and since he is going only one day a week it will be much harder. At this age consistency is key. I'd either go with the nanny or with a nursery, but not mix the two. When your LO is closer to two I'd transition to full time nursery care.

I viewed all the Little Unicorns nurseries in Canary Wharf and though there was nothing wrong with them, I just felt that there was something missing and that they would not be right for my particular LO. I could be completely wrong of course.

I'm just looking into sending my 1. Year old to little unicorns in Columbus courtyard. Please can you let me know how you have found your experience with them so far?

Thanks
