Should I give a 'leaving/transition' gift?

Not sure if this should be in Childcare or chat, but we'll see how it goes!

DS1 (2.4) has been in his nursery since turning 1, ('baby' room, 3mnths-2/2.5 yr olds). he's in 3 days a week and he, me & DH are all very chatty, so we've got to know the staff well and gave cards and a present at Christmas. DS is about to make the transition to the next room (2/2.5-3.5yr olds) next week. We will still see the staff who work in the baby room each time we go to nursery, but he's still 'leaving' the baby room. Should I get the baby room staff a 'leaving' present & card? If so, do you think a box of chocolates or something? I'm not really sure that the done thing is! All opinions welcome. Smile

I think it is a nice idea to leave a box of chocolates :) I did not do this when transitioning rooms - but then again the kids at nursery get moved around in the rooms depending on numbers etc. So my girl still sees the baby room staff. However, we now have to take her out because, although we are very happy with nursery, it is a 20 mins walk from us and im expecting baby two, so need to move her to one that is 2 mins walk from us. Anyway, I plan on writing a thank you card and giving a box of chocolates for each rooms (3 rooms) because all the staff has cared for, helped with my daughter at one point :)

I just hope I am happy with the new place as I am with this place!
