Can someone please advise on the followings?
My LO goes to a private childcare 3 afternoon session (1:00-06:30). The usual cost is 117/- per week.

  • pls note the monthly fee= weekly feex51/12
What would be the total cost per month now that I get the 15 hrs free childcare?
I was advised that my cost would be 344/month which does not sound right?
Is there any deduct able set rate on the 15 hrs funding?
    Thank you.

The maximum you can claim is 570 hours which works out at 34 weeks at 15 hours a week.
Different local authorities set their own rate per hour but the figure is around £5 per hour. You will need to check the figure for your area with the nursery.
ASk them what they are charging you for- it might include a meal as they are not included in the grant, although snacks are.
Check that you are claiming the full 15 hours.

You don't get the grant in the holidays either remember.

you can claim, with arrangement with the provider, 3 x 5 hour sessions. Your DD attends for 5 and 1/2 hours, so check what they are charging you for the extra half hour- it might be extortionate to help them recoup their losses (most nurseries lose out on the scheme as the grant doesn't cover the cost)
if you don't need the extra half hour ask to just do the funded sessions only but remember you will have to pay for the holidays
