My DD and DS's nursery is bugging me and I'm not sure whether I am worrying unduly. DD and DS go three days a week when I'm at work. In last few months there have been lots of staff changes particularly in DS's room (he's 2.9)- some of the better carers have gone to the nursery's new branch. The nursery also seem to mix up rooms alot so on quiet days or at pick up times, he is with another room and other carers - the children are the same age range tho'. Lately I feel like I pick DS up from a different carer each day and never know which room he's been in. It also bugs me that the carers don't know his stuff e.g his coat, that he's got wellies for outdoors etc. This sounds really trivial now I've written it down so is it just normal nursery life, is this how other nurseries operate?

I don't think this is trivial because continuity of care is important, and if you don't know where your ds is or where is stuff is at the end of the day maybe he finds it confusing too. Could you talk to the nursery manager (using examples) and ask him/her whether the high turnover is a temporary thing? If my dd changes rooms during the day I am normally told when I go in that she is in another room, and why. Do they have keyworkers at your children's nursery?

i think to is bad tbh.
I always try to understand the kids' world by putting myself in their place but make it like i am at work...does that make sens?

so, using that analagy, everyday i go to work, there's a whole new set of people to work with, the place i work in has been changed without consultation or explination and nobody knows where my stuff is...

i would talk to them, but a high staff turnover may well be a bad sign too.
sorry if that sounds negative, but it just doesn't sound much fun for little one tbh

not usre if this is normal for a nursery however.. it may well be jsut a bad patch for a while

No, they don't have a keycarer system. TBH the nursery don't really have a high staff turnover it's just that they like to re-jig the carers from time to time so they get to work with other age groups and the nursery has also opened a new branch and taken some of the better carers to staff it!
