is it putting objects in and telling a story with them as you take them out?

Hello Smile

Yep exactly that, telling a story using visual aids they are great! Children get v involved and it encourages them to really listen and take in the story. Particularly good for children who find it difficult to sit still

My fave is The hungry Caterpillar, it contains the following:
plastic food ( have also used real food in the past)
plastic caterpillar
plastic butterflies of different colours and patterns
knitted caterpillar
laminated photos of caterpillar to butterfly life cycle
factual book
days of the week
drawn and laminated leaf
marble to use as the egg

The childrens fave is Billy Goats Gruff:

3 goats from farm set
one of those trolls with funny brightly coloured hair
and a bridge bought from pet shop that should go in a fish tank
sometimes add claves so that the children can 'trip trap'

I love story sacks Grin

This is a site selling pre-made storysacks (designed by Neil Griffiths, the guy who had the original idea) \link{http://www.storysack.com/index.htm\storysack.com}, which might give you some ideas....
Also if you put 'story sack' in a search on \link{http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&fstype=1&from=R10&satitle=story+sack&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&bs=Search&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=TR13+8BX&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1\ebay} there are loads for sale (again, you can just for ideas for particular books/themes).
I love story sacks Smile
