Nurseries

Am I mean for sending DD to nursery another morning?

DD currently goes to nursery 2 days a week. She has done since being 20 weeks or so. She is now at a second nursery (for a year or so now) and is 3y 6m. She will start school next September. As of this term we have got the nursery vouchers which has more than halved our nursery costs.

DD loves nursery and has lots of really good friends there - and 2 or 3 very good ones. Recently she has been asking more and more about going to nursery on other days. She misses playing with her friends.

I am at home two days a week, and we do lots which she does love, as do I. But she isn't so excited about the moning of shopping and/or house work.

I am thinking of seeing if nursery has a spare morning for one of those days. I have one nursery voucher left, as we only use 4 at present. She could then go in a morning one day and I can get housework/shopping done there.

What do you think?

Am I being mean for thinking it'd be a good idea? DD has asked remember...but ?

Go for it, I did this with DS and I really believe that it eased his passage into school.

My DS is not full time until January, so 5 mornings a week as opposed to 3 made little or no difference to him.

January should be interesting though.

I did wonder about the school angle too. If DD does go to the prep school she starts September (if state the following Jan). She does seem ready for more time there. I guess I just can't compete= shopping v playing with her firends and doing alsorts of activities!

I will have to ring them up and see if they have anything available though.

All booked in. From now on DD will go to Nursery from 8am to 12:30 (so she can have lunch there at her request) on a Friday, term time only. I can use a nursery voucher from straight away too as we just made the deadline.

My DS is 2 and a half and is at Nursery 5 days a week, full time and he loves it. His social skills are great as he is around other children such a lot. I wouldn't feel mean Hulababy at all, in fact, it will do the world of good. I feel guilty all the time and I've realised that actually, when I see him so happy and content, it's me with the problem, not him

Good luck!!

Well done for going for it, Hula. After your wonderful advice while I was on maternity leave I am now at work 3 days a week (boys at nursery 3 1/2 days) and from next week I will be 4 days and the boys will be full time. I consider it vital to get that extra time alone to recharge so that the boys get me at my best. And nursery is really happy that they will be fulltime, as it will help ds2 with routines and ds1 socially.
