We've been asked by NHS Choices to find UK based folks willing to complete their short survey about the key questions you have about pregnancy, childbirth and caring for small babies.

They say "NHS Choices is planning to improve the information we offer to new parents. We would like to know the key questions you have about pregnancy, childbirth and caring for small babies. Please tell us about any questions that you have no matter how silly or embarrassing they may seem. It can be anything at all from 'How can I avoid stretch marks?' to 'What is the safest position to lay a baby down to sleep?'"

"It doesn't matter if you know the answers to the questions or not - it's just your questions that we want to collect so we can make sure we have the answers next time someone asks. Thank you for agreeing to help us with this important research. On completion of the survey your name will be entered into a draw where one person who completes the survey will win a £250 John Lewis voucher"

So please take a few minutes to add your views to their survey - add your email address at the end to be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 John Lewis voucher - please note the survey is being promoted via other channels so it may not be a MNer that wins. Once the prize draw has been made, all email addresses will be deleted and you will not receive any marketing as a result.

The survey is open to everyone in the UK who is either currently pregnant (or whose partner is currently pregnant) or has a baby or toddler aged up to 18 months old.

Do feel free to pass on the link to your partner.

Who is NHS Choices? What do you do?

That has to be the most poorly designed survey I have ever filled in on MN. I'm on my 3rd child. I don't have 5 questions for every stage. The lack of contextual and background information is going to give the survey designers the quality of responses they deserve, I'm afraid. It looks as though a work experience student knocked this together in 10 minutes.

Agree. I gave up. Too much work.

I agree with galois , very poorly designed. No back button to edit answers. I'm also expecting my 3rd dc and the survey could easily have been better designed to get some decent answers from me.

Done. But dont know why they dont just refer to other sites (like mumsnet) for info on some things.
Saying that would be good if all local info on antenatal classes etc was centralised somewhere.

that survey is ridiculous - I can't see how it will lead to anything useful at all. I certainly couldn't think of 5 questions for each stage. Again I have 3 children, and any of my questions have mostly been unique to issues involving each child. Odd.

Done, anything for the chance of a John Lewis voucher Wink

I can't think of any questions? The kind of questions I had during pregnancy aren't of any interest to the NHS e.g. Where can I get a decent breastfeeding bra? Do I need to buy a Moses basket as well as a cot? etc... Therefore I gave up!
Only the NHS could have produced such a poor survey?

Is it the NHS though? I've never heard of them.

What Teddy said, basically.

I'm pg with my first so had to miss loads, but I think I had lots of good questions in the bits I could do. I thought the same format of question for all the stages of pg / childhood was a bit long.

I gave up, I don't see how they can get any info from that survey, they'd be better of setting a discussion panal up.

Done, why don't they just trawl mumsnet?

MummyBerryJuice · 24/05/2011 20:50

I completed it but really is a rubbish survey. I have no idea how they will be able to get any useful information from it

MummyBerryJuice · 24/05/2011 20:51

Oh, and I'm not entirely sure where I stand on the NHS budget being used for surveys...

Report
PrisonerZero · 24/05/2011 21:24

I completed it for the chance of winning the voucher!

I gave up half way through - it's not well structured. So completely basic. Did a preschooler write up the questions. What a waste of NHS money, what do they possibly think they will learn from the answers?

What an awful survey - I don't know how they will learn anything of benefit from that. Even the lure of JL vouchers couldn't tempt me to complete it!

Report
JollySergeantJackrum · 24/05/2011 22:30

bringinghome the last page asks for your email address and daytime telephone number. They'll be confused when they try to dial it.

Filled it in, but agree that it's rubbish. I don't think NHS choices exist in Scotland anyway.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/05/2011 22:48

Completed (another JL whore) but seriously how are they going to collate the data into anything workable?!
