Many thanks for taking part in the Appletiser product test - please find below the questions that Appletiser would like you to answer. Please add your feedback once you've been able to try the drinks.

There are a number of questions as Appletiser are so keen to know what you think - please feel free to use these either as a prompt - telling us your overall views using these as a guide, or to answer each question individually.

If you have any other comments please add them below - they genuinely would like to know how they could improve on both the product and how it is promoted to both women such as yourself and to families.

Everyone who adds feedback to this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky winner will win a £250 voucher for the store of their choice.

Thanks and good luck

Q1 If you haven't tried Appletiser before, or for a long time, what are the reasons?

I used to have it as a child but as an adult I don't tend to drink a lot of fizzy soft drinks. I suppose I felt it was more for children, but I never bought it for my own.

Q2 What was the best thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which was your favourite flavour?

My favourite flavour was the Pomegranate and Raspberry (which tasted particularly delicious in a 50/50 mix with champagne ). The peartiser and appletiser both really tasted of the fruits which was lovely. I liked the shape of the bottle.

Q3 What was the worst thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which flavour(s) weren?t you so keen on?

The Mango, Mandarin and Apple Fruitiser had quite a bitter aftertaste, I love mango but could barely taste it in the mix. It'd be nice if the bottles were a little bigger, since we really only got a glass each from each bottle.

Q4 On what occasions would you typically drink a product from the Appletiser range?

They're something I would have for the children with a Sunday Roast. I think they'd also be nice for a Summery Barbeque.

Q5 What foods do you think the different Appletiser flavours would be good with?

Well the apple would certainly go with a Pork Roast beautifully. I also think they're a good flavour to go with light summer salads and barbeques.

Q6 Did anyone else in your family, your children, or any of your friends try it? What did they think?

My children loved the appletiser (it disappeared within 2 minutes), the peartiser was enjoyed too, but none of them finished their serving of the Mango, Mandarin and Apple Fruitiser.

Q7 How does the Appletiser range compare to other similar drinks? Is there a brand you prefer? If so why?

I think it compares really well. We usually buy schloer, but I think (depending on the price) I would certainly consider buying Appletiser in the the future. It tasted a bit fresher and slightly less sweet than schloer, which was a positive.

Q8 What do you think Appletiser the company do to improve the product, packaging or marketing?

Judging by the comments about other people's leaking bottles, it looks like that needs sorting. I also think a slightly larger bottle than the 75cl bottle would be nice otherwise I couldn't see one bottle lasting a meal.

Q9 If you were in charge of selling Appletiser how would you try to encourage more mums, or mums to be, to buy Appletiser?

Free samples are always a good way to go Stressing that it is carbonated fruit juice and free of preservatives with no added sugar, would also be a good thing. It never would have occurred to me that a glass of Appletiser is actually one of my five a day. Many parents are now more concerned about the potential damage from sweeteners such as aspartame than they are about a product containing natural fruit sugars, so making it clear it contains no sweeteners may be a positive thing too (especially since some drinks which claim "no added sugar" are hiding the fact that they have added aspartame)

Q10 Lastly, do you think you would recommend the Appletiser range to your friends?

Yes I would. I've enjoyed trying the brand again (for the first time in about 20 years) and it has certainly not disappointed. Thank you for my lovely gift pack

Q1 If you haven't tried Appletiser before, or for a long time, what are the reasons?

We tend to buy squash for the children, as bottled drinks are expensive

Q2 What was the best thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which was your favourite flavour?

The pear one was the favourite in our taste test, followed by the mango one. The pear was very refreshing.

Q3 What was the worst thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which flavour(s) weren?t you so keen on?

None of us like the apple one, it was too sharp.

Q4 On what occasions would you typically drink a product from the Appletiser range?

I would probably buy it when I have people coming over for a meal

Q5 What foods do you think the different Appletiser flavours would be good with?

We tried the whole range with breakfast, which worked well, we had it with dinner chicken and with pasta and it does seem to go with most things, and a nice alternative to wine for me!

Q6 Did anyone else in your family, your children, or any of your friends try it? What did they think?

Yes lots of people had a taste, and the overall score was the pear one on top. Everyone liked the new flavours

Q7 How does the Appletiser range compare to other similar drinks? Is there a brand you prefer? If so why?

No we don't often buy this type of drink. I buy Shlur (not sure how to spell!) and it was a good alternative

Q8 What do you think Appletiser the company do to improve the product, packaging or marketing?

It needs to be marketed as a cool, trendy drink, as an alternative to wine.

Q9 If you were in charge of selling Appletiser how would you try to encourage more mums, or mums to be, to buy Appletiser?

I'd give lots of free bottles to mums (like you did!) but maybe also schools could try them?

Q10 Lastly, do you think you would recommend the Appletiser range to your friends?

Yes I would

Q1 I usualy drink lemonade as I forget there are other options
Q2 I liked the glass bottle and the pear flavour best.
Q3 the bottles are too big and the pomegranate and rasberry was lacking in distinctive flavour
Q4 If I was at the pub and pregnant
Q5 Probably fish as they are a light drink
Q6 No one else shared them
Q7 more interesting than lemonade
Q8 the bottles could be smaller and perhaps there could be posters in pubs advertising them as a non alcoholic refreshing drink
Q9 I would send new mums a money off voucher as I am sure they will buy it if they are aware of it
Q10 I already have

Q1 I haven't had it for a while and not sure why really! I think I just forgot about it as a brand.

Q2 The taste. The apple one was my favourite as it had a crisp, clean taste which was very refreshing. I actually really liked the pear one too and I don't usually enjoy pear-flavoured things. I wouldn't have tried it if it weren't for this trial but will consider buying it in the future.

Q3 The bottles are a bit small. A couple of decent sized glasses and it's all gone! It would put me off buying it as an alcohol replacement. I wasn't keen on the mango and mandarin flavour as it seemed very sweet to me.

Q4 Social occassions where I was trying to avoid alcohol. Or I'd take some of the other MNers suggestion and mix it with alcohol! I'd also give it to my son as a treat. He doesn't usually have fizzy drinks but I'd give it in preference to lemonade etc.

Q5 I think they'd go nicely with a barbeque in the summer. They are definitely summer drinks.

Q6 My partner and our 2 year old son also tried them. My partner enjoyed them but found all flavours a bit sweet. My 2 year old said "It's yummy because it's got bubbles in it"

Q7 I've had Schloer recently. I like the flavour of that as it's a bit more wine-like!

Q8 Bigger bottles, definitley. Also, one of my bottles leaked so that needs to be rectified.

Q9 I'd recommend it as a top-brand soft drink, or as a mixer. It's nice to have when not drinking alcohol. I think a lot of parents would also prefer to give this to their children rather than the usual carbonated drinks as it is just juice.

Q10 Yes, definitely. I'm probably going to drink it again, especially with the money off vouchers.

Q1 If you haven't tried Appletiser before, or for a long time, what are the reasons?

My perception of it as an expensive drink. There are also a lot of similar products (glass bottled, fruity, sparkling) out there now so I am more likely to pick up a more unusual flavour than apple if I want that sort of drink as a treat.

Q2 What was the best thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which was your favourite flavour?

Smart bottles. The fizz wasn't too strong, just right. Natural enough flavours. My favourite as a stand alone drink was the pear one - delicious cold from the fridge. The two mixed fruit flavours made outstanding mixers for rum or vodka cocktails - yum!

Q3 What was the worst thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which flavour(s) weren?t you so keen on?

Not so keen on the apple, especially when drunk straight after the delicious pear one. Maybe it's because it wasn't cold.

Q4 On what occasions would you typically drink a product from the Appletiser range?

As a treat if on offer. At a family meal or small gathering. From a shop fridge if they were in smaller disposable containers.

Q5 What foods do you think the different Appletiser flavours would be good with?

As mentioned above the mixed fruit ones made great cocktails - the mango one with dark rum was like a daiquiri without the slushy ice and the cranberry one went well with vodka. With food, I'd say they'd go with anything as they are light enough a flavour and not too fizzy. Probably very nice with curry.

Q6 Did anyone else in your family, your children, or any of your friends try it? What did they think?

My husband, who can't drink alcohol due to migraines, was very impressed and felt that the pear one made a nice cider substitute and the cranberry one was a nice wine substitute. My children, ages 6 and 1, liked them, but in smaller doses as they don't like fizzy drinks much.

Q7 How does the Appletiser range compare to other similar drinks? Is there a brand you prefer? If so why?

I don't buy this type of drink very often these days as I find a nice squash with fizzy water is just as nice and cheaper in the long run.

Q8 What do you think Appletiser the company do to improve the product, packaging or marketing?

Product - continue with expanding the flavours, maybe two or three more.
Packaging - make it easier to keep in the fridge (although the shape is recognisable and part of the brand so that's a tough call). Produce smaller versions for newsagent fridges.
Marketing - I can't remember seeing any marketing before receiving the parcel so can't comment more than to say that the 'natural mother' approach felt a bit done and too obvious.

Q9 If you were in charge of selling Appletiser how would you try to encourage more mums, or mums to be, to buy Appletiser?

If you want the mums to start using it as a drink for their children (lunchboxes etc) then you need to change the packaging and look drastically and go down the route brands like Innocent smoothies have gone. On the other hand, if you want the mothers themselves to be the main drinkers you need to be sure that mums would actually go out of their way to treat themselves to a nice drink like this on a regular basis. Not sure this would work as for me this sort of drink is an occasional treat for all the family. However there is maybe something to be said for marketing it as mixer for the 'sophisticated' long evening drink after the kids are in bed [shrug]

Q10 Lastly, do you think you would recommend the Appletiser range to your friends?

Yes, definitely, and I already have.

Other comments. The presentation box was lovely and almost as exciting as the free drinks! Most definitely keeping that as pretty storage
I only received for big bottles and thought there were meant to be 6 small ones too. Maybe I'm wrong and misunderstood the other thread. Not complaining but just to say there's only feedback from me on the large bottles.

Q1 If you haven't tried Appletiser before, or for a long time, what are the reasons?

Used to drink it a long time ago but got out of the habit. Also, am a Diet Coke addict.

Q2 What was the best thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which was your favourite flavour?

Love the taste, the simplicity of the ingredients, and the bottle. Old-school apple is my favourite flavour, followed by pomegranate and raspberry.

Q3 What was the worst thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which flavour(s) weren?t you so keen on?

I like them all, but my least favourite is Peartiser - I find it slightly cloying and would rather drink the apple version.

Q4 On what occasions would you typically drink a product from the Appletiser range?

No special occasion - I'd buy a big bottle at the weekend and drink it slowly throughout the week.

Q5 What foods do you think the different Appletiser flavours would be good with?

Haven't really thought about that. Tend to drink just water (or wine!) with food, so wouldn't be drinking it with food.

Q6 Did anyone else in your family, your children, or any of your friends try it? What did they think?

My husband loves all the flavours, and mixed a couple with vodka. My daughter is a notoriously fussy eater and only drinks milk and water, so she refused to try any!

Q7 How does the Appletiser range compare to other similar drinks? Is there a brand you prefer? If so why?

As mentioned above, I usually drink less healthy fizzy drinks, mainly Diet Coke, which I'm trying to wean myself off. Perhaps Appletiser will be the solution! It's certainly healthier, and still delivers the fizziness I crave (though not the caffeine).

Q8 What do you think Appletiser the company do to improve the product, packaging or marketing?

I loved the crisp but pretty feel of your marketing material/boxes etc for this mailout - I thought they really fitted with the Appletiser brand. The bottles are very handsome. Can't think of what I'd do to improve them.

Q9 If you were in charge of selling Appletiser how would you try to encourage more mums, or mums to be, to buy Appletiser?

Would push the healthy, five-a-day aspect, and how simple it is - just carbonated fruit juice.

Q10 Lastly, do you think you would recommend the Appletiser range to your friends?

Yes - I already have!

Q1 If you haven't tried Appletiser before, or for a long time, what are the reasons?

I always thought Appletiser was too sweet when I was a kid, but when I tried it again later in life, I loved it.

Q2 What was the best thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which was your favourite flavour?
My fav flavour is the Peartiser. The bottles are a great size and shape, and look good in a champagne glass when you are not allowed to drink the real bubbly!

Q3 What was the worst thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which flavour(s) weren?t you so keen on?
I wasnt keen on the mango one, but thats only beacuse I dont like Mango anyway...

Q4 On what occasions would you typically drink a product from the Appletiser range?

BBQ's, picnics, or just in front of the telly with my Labrador! Anytime!

Q5 What foods do you think the different Appletiser flavours would be good with?

Summery salads, BBQ's, fish, chicken and I had some with a spicy dish and that even worked too!

Q6 Did anyone else in your family, your children, or any of your friends try it? What did they think?
My husband liked the mango and the original one..

Q7 How does the Appletiser range compare to other similar drinks? Is there a brand you prefer? If so why?
I like the brand Shloer, who are kind of in the same range, but more expensive.

Q8 What do you think Appletiser the company do to improve the product, packaging or marketing?
Nothing really, the flavours are good, varied and the bottles are nice...

Q9 If you were in charge of selling Appletiser how would you try to encourage more mums, or mums to be, to buy Appletiser?
Put it with the Alcohol section in the supermarket, and advertise it as 'bubbles for mums to be'!

Q10 Lastly, do you think you would recommend the Appletiser range to your friends?

Definately - I have bought some more with your vouchers too!
Thanks very much - the giftbox, packaging and everything was a nice surprise!

q1 always jus buy lemonade usually, though the kids much prefer these types of drinks.
q2 the raspberry one was delicious! dd and ds1 both loved that one too. the apple didnt taste as i remember-it was really 'appley'! which is defrinately a good thing.
q3 not very keen on the mandarin one, cant quite put my ginger on why though, just wasnt overly keen.
q4 as a treat, like a party or family occasion
q5 they would go well with most foods
q6 all the kids and dp tried them-they all ekjoyed them very much. think we may have some converts.
q7 they compare quite well. it was fizzy but not overly so which is good, as i usually have other fizzy drinks which are just too fizzy.
q8 nothing. the bottles were lovely. and the whole package and design was spot on.
q9 definately samples or product testing in supermarkets.
q10 i would recommend it. the flavours were clear, not too fizzy and well desgined packaging. what more could you ask for?!

Q1 I just never think to buy it these days. I avoid sweet / fizzy drinks as I think it's healthier (and cheaper) to drink water.

Q2 Best flavour is the Peartiser, then the apple. The best thing is the drinks are refreshing and not too sweet compared to some other options (though still too sweet for me).

Q3 Although they are better than other options, they are still too sweet, and too fizzy. I was really looking forward to the Mango drink as I love mangoes, but it was really disappointing as it tasted predominantly of apple. I think most people buying a drink with mango in the name would be disappointed by this.

Q4 When pregnant / breastfeeding and trying to find something that makes me feel like I am having a glass of wine! Or when having my teetoal parents over for a barbeque etc.

Q5 The pear and apple are good with summer salads and barbeques.

Q6 Parents seem to like it. Everyone was a bit disappointed with the mango and the raspberry.

Q7 It's the best I've ever found as it is not too sweet and not too fizzy. But as I said, still too sweet and too fizzy for me.

Q8 Make it more like a nice substitute for a glass of wine. Grapetiser maybe? Less sweet / less fizzy? Packaging more like wine?

Q9 Market as a non-alcoholic alternative.

Q10 Wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

Q1 If you haven't tried Appletiser before, or for a long time, what are the reasons? Used to drink it before old enough for alcohol! don't really drink fizzy drinks myself or buy them for the kids as prefer healthier options. also haven't really noticed it out and about as a soft drink recently.

Q2 What was the best thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which was your favourite flavour?
Was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was merely carbonated fruit juice. the raspberry one was my favourite

Q3 What was the worst thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which flavour(s) weren?t you so keen on?
i liked them all but kids not so keen on the mango one. all my bottles were fine but know that others had issues with sealage (if that's a word )

Q4 On what occasions would you typically drink a product from the Appletiser range?
As a treat - in general we don't have fizzy drinks in the house. however, this would be much more preferable now in my mind to the occasional glass of coke the kids have for a "treat" i am also always designated driver when out so will keep an eye out for this in future.

Q5 What foods do you think the different Appletiser flavours would be good with?
Definitely summery, light foods like salads, barbeques etc.

Q6 Did anyone else in your family, your children, or any of your friends try it? What did they think?
Husband and children tried it - children liked apple best. Dh liked all of them and is a bit of a fizz fiend so i expect he will be placing requests for it from now on on heath grounds

Q7 How does the Appletiser range compare to other similar drinks? Is there a brand you prefer? If so why?
Schloer is the closest I can think of in genre, but cannot think of any others that are just carbonated pure juice. As prev stated, I don't generally drink/buy fizzy drinks.

Q8 What do you think Appletiser the company do to improve the product, packaging or marketing?
Definitely big up the pure juice aspect!! Perhaps have two lots of packaging - one aimed at children as a fun fizzy drink and one aimed at adults as a sophisticated alternative to alcohol??

Q9 If you were in charge of selling Appletiser how would you try to encourage more mums, or mums to be, to buy Appletiser?
See above!!!

Q10 Lastly, do you think you would recommend the Appletiser range to your friends?
Yes - the kids already have!

Q1 If you haven't tried Appletiser before, or for a long time, what are the reasons?
I don't really buy fizzy drinks for home now as they are quite expensive and disappear out of the fridge really quickly. Sugar free squash seems to be a bit more cost effective.
I used to like having it in the pub and still would, we just don't go anywhere near as often now.

Q2 What was the best thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which was your favourite flavour?
I like appletiser best. Then pomegranate and raspberry. These 2 aren't quite as sweet as the other 2. I like the fact that it isn't overly fizzy (although all still too fizzy for my 4 year old) as I'm not madly keen on really fizzy drinks.
I really like the fact that it doesn't have added sugar or preservatives.
Seems to be a pretty good hangover drink!

Q3 What was the worst thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which flavour(s) weren?t you so keen on?
Worst was the peartiser - urgh! Too sweet but at the same time a bit sharp. I do like pears too so I had quite high expectations. Closely followed by the taste of the mango drink which seemed rather like a liquidised boiled sweet. Far too sweet.
The bottles are a little small I thought.
It seems really expensive too. Is that for the drink itself or for the glass bottle it comes in? I would be more likely to buy it if it came in a 2ltr bottle, like apple tango, and had a price to match.

Q4 On what occasions would you typically drink a product from the Appletiser range?
At the pub, when out for a meal (if I'm driving).

Q5 What foods do you think the different Appletiser flavours would be good with?
I don't think the mango and pear could go with anything!
The other 2 might be nice at a barbeque. I think they go with savoury foods rather than dessert (it might all become a little sweet then). On a picnic if they weren't in glass bottles.

Q6 Did anyone else in your family, your children, or any of your friends try it? What did they think?
Yes, 13 year old liked the peartiser (obviously he has a really sweet tooth). The bottles of mango and pomegranate were drained shortly after I tried them by my other half so I know if I were to buy them they would go down well.
My 4 year old tried the mango drink - ooh, it's a bit spicy for me (I don't think he appreciated the bubbles!)

Q7 How does the Appletiser range compare to other similar drinks? Is there a brand you prefer? If so why?
I don't really tend to drink any others at all. I prefer still fruit drinks instead. However, appletiser is probably my favourite carbonated drink.

Q8 What do you think Appletiser the company do to improve the product, packaging or marketing?
Offer a larger, plastic bottle at a lower price.
Do you sell cans of appletise or little bottles (plastic again please)?
The Appletiser name reminds me of the drink Tizer. I'm not sure if they sell it still but from memory it was just sweet artificial yuck. Not a good memory to accidentally link with appletiser.
You could market it about it being fruit in a bottle rather than just chemicals. How many apples in a bottle etc

Q9 If you were in charge of selling Appletiser how would you try to encourage more mums, or mums to be, to buy Appletiser?
Do more sampling, lower the price, make it more useful to families and put it into a plastic bottle. Put a voucher for it in the bounty bag. Do an uncarbonated version?

Q10 Lastly, do you think you would recommend the Appletiser range to your friends?
Appletise and pomegranate yes, but not the other 2.

Q1 If you haven't tried Appletiser before, or for a long time, what are the reasons?

Just forgot about it really

Q2 What was the best thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which was your favourite flavour?
It's only juice! You really really need to advertise it on this strength. I loved the Rasp and Pom. Also the pear because it tastes like Babycham used to before they added rubbish to it!

Q3 What was the worst thing about the Appletiser range (including the taste, the bottle, ingredients, cost etc)? Which flavour(s) weren?t you so keen on? It is quite pricey. Thought the mango one could do with more flavour

Q4 On what occasions would you typically drink a product from the Appletiser range?Would buy instead of bottle of wine when I want to be on the wagon.

Q5 What foods do you think the different Appletiser flavours would be good with?
Cold summer foods

Q6 Did anyone else in your family, your children, or any of your friends try it? What did they think? Husband loved it (teetotal, 42 and tattoos)

Q7 How does the Appletiser range compare to other similar drinks? Is there a brand you prefer? If so why? Is there one? I can only think of J20 which is too sweet.

Q8 What do you think Appletiser the company do to improve the product, packaging or marketing? The labels struck me as a bit amateurish - especially the way the circular ones at the top were stuck on and presented.

Q9 If you were in charge of selling Appletiser how would you try to encourage more mums, or mums to be, to buy Appletiser? Sell it on the strength of juice only. Classy looking bottle that you wouldn't mind having on a dinner table.

Q10 Lastly, do you think you would recommend the Appletiser range to your friends?
Yup! Make it a bit cheaper though

thank you for the opportunity to try!
