I am really impressed with ours - it looked pretty scary and I thought DS would complain but it was fine and caught all those blimmin eggs that are soooo hard to get rid of

We are in Kenya and poor dd is suffering her first infestation!

How bleeeeming marvleeous this contraption is. Completely cleared DS2s infestation. He hardly winged at all.

Thankyou.

well was good on DS1's hair, fairly good on DS3's hair, and bloody awful on DS2's hair - took out hardly any eggs or nits - but plenty of his hair ! (I had to use a bog standard comb for his).

Scary looking comb, but first ever that my children have been happy getting their hair combed with, quick and simple to use at bath times.

Report
cspiders · 20/05/2010 08:45

fantastic product no child should have to suffer the horrible toxic nit treatment again. A must for all parents.

All I can say is it works - we have never had reinfestations due to missed eggs, one or two goes with the Nitty Gritty leaves them clean. Very satisfying to see all the eggs you've caught on the tissue.

I do have boys with short fine hair though - I did try it on my own hair but was at how much came out.

I was impressed. Easy and quick to use, and seems to have scraped out every trace of the little blighters.

It's Amanda here, one of the NItty Gritty Mums,

Firstly, thank you everyone who has posted so far - it is so exciting for us to read your great feedback. We can't wait to see the survey results - it's like waiting for exam results - we're hoping for good results, but we've got butterflies in our stomachs just waiting...!

And to Themasterandmargaritas - as you were the first person to post on this thread and you live in Kenya where you wouldn't be able to buy our great little comb, we would be happy to send you a complimentary one so you can eliminate the little blighters and take part in the survey if you'd like to.

If you email me your postal address, we'll get one off to you Amanda.

Done survey as an mum who's had one a while.

Its fab for DD2 because she has a rare medical condition and very sensitive skin esp. on her face and head and reacts to lots of different things - didn't want to risk the chemicals in nit treatments on her! 2 nights of nitty gritty combing and she's clear.

Not as easy on DD1 due to her having thick and long hair but worth the effort as again she is generally clear of the little buggers after 2/3 nights of combing even if does take nearly an hour to do - she's had the chemical treatment in the past and hated it.

have completed survey as an old hand at the Nitty Gritty.

Works wonders on DD1 but DD2 needs Hedrin or the like due to thick curly hair - more hair than anything else comes out with the Nitty Gritty which upsets her too much.

Otherwise it is a FAB product!

Nitty Gritty is absolutely brilliant, gets all the eggs out and it is so satisfying to catch one of the critters between its prongs. Ours is in constant use.

Love ours!! Bought one ages ago as I just thought I would need it one day, last December DD was scratching (and so was I) I was and [queasy emoticon] at how many the comb caught!!!

alibobins · 20/05/2010 20:42

Dd9 has really thick curly hair and absolutly hates me doing her hair with a normal nit comb. She looked a little worried when I showed her the new comb but what a difference we managed to get rid of all the headlice and eggs without any tears thankyou Nitty Gritty.

Better than other nit combs I've tried especially my son where they never came out on his hair before,

Not so good with curly hair though

Report

I wish it was wider and also wish that it came in white so you could more clearly see both the lice and the eggs.
