Does your child have head lice right now? Would you like to try the award winning Nitty Gritty Comb, and then add feedback on Mumsnet?

We've been asked by Nitty Gritty to find 50 Mumsnetters who have at least one child who has head lice right now, who don't currently have a Nitty Gritty Comb and who would like to try one.

Nitty Gritty was started and is still run by 3 mums who went through head lice hell with their own daughters. They found that most products on the market didn't work and so they developed their own range of chemical free products. The Nitty Gritty Comb is a state of the art nit comb, with special micro-grooved teeth which remove both the lice and their eggs and can be used with ordinary conditioner. Nitty Gritty now want to enlist the help of the Mumsnet community for some honest testing and feedback.

For more information on Nitty Gritty click here.

As time is of the essence with head lice, the first 50 Mumsnetters who complete this form will be sent a Nitty Gritty comb (worth £10.99) to try as soon as possible - we will be downloading names and addresses daily and passing them onto Nitty Gritty for immediate dispatch. Naturally you can keep the comb for any future uses .

If you are sent a comb as part of this trial, we ask that you then return to Mumsnet to complete a short survey with your views and experiences of the comb.

Everyone who is part of this test, tries the comb and who completes the short feedback survey, will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £100 Amazon voucher, a full set of Nitty Gritty products (worth £30) PLUS a half price discount voucher for the Nitty Gritty Comb for every family in their school (to be redeemed on the Nitty Griity website)

HOWEVER - We know that many Mumsnetters have already used the Nitty Gritty Comb so even if you are not part of this trial, we'd love you to still complete the feedback survey - we will enter you into a separate prize draw where you could win a full set of Nitty Gritty products (worth £30) PLUS a half price discount voucher for the Nitty Gritty Comb for every family in your school (to be redeemed on the Nitty Griity website) if you add your feedback. Just keep an eye out for the feedback thread in a week or so.

Thanks and good luck (with the head lice as well as the product test!)

we seem to have headlice non stop during term time. I have reached the conclusion that DD doesn't have hair, she has a headlice playground growing on her head.

we already have a Nitty Gritty though. Will be happy to complete the survey though. We have bought hundreds of different combs and the nitty gritty is the only one that actually gets the dead egg's out.

Shame, we had nits last week but have just banished them back to the edge of the earth. I don't have a nitty gritty, mine's a Comb-a-way, it gets the lice but not the eggs. Is the Nitty Gritty better?

On the advice of MNetters, I bought a Nitty Gritty (was going to abbreviate but realised that would make NG which is too far right of centre in these political days!) a couple of months ago and have to say IT WORKS.

Bit of a palaver, having to comb through every second day but it gets rid of the nasty blighters.

So don't need one, but will do the survey.

have one already but found it excellent for the whole family when dd1 got them. although i would say that the general mn advice to slather with cheap conditioner is not the way for thick curls, we found combing easier with a normal amount of ludicrously expensive conditioner.

Sorry but the Nitty Gritty comb tore my hair, and my son's - they kindly replaced it and sent us some more of the kit, for nothing - lovely customer service - but the comb still tore our hair out.

I use a normal metal cat comb these days.

Maybe I was just using it at the wrong angle or something?

Agree with Aitch regarding thick curly hair - you first need to make sure the dry hair is very well detangled, then use good quality conditioner. Separate the hair into small locks and comb through each one slowly and carefully.

My dd2 still screamed but it got out all lice, eggs etc.

i dont know how it works in england btw but you can get them on the nhs up here, from the pharmacist under the minor ailments scheme. but i'd say £11 isn't excessive in any case, compared to hedrin etc, and there is a fair amount of engineering in the comb teeth.

oh, and a lollipop and favourite dvd excellent for combing. and a pint glass filled with water so that you can see the revolting little blighters drown when you rinse the comb.

Just bought one - our first load of nits. Seems to be doing the job so will answer the survey anyway.

We have nits at the moment, but the last time we had them I tried the Nitty Gritty and didn't get on with it at all. I have very brittle hair and it broke off the ends. DH and DS have thick hair strands and they found it agony to be combed with it.

Bought one, no idea if good or not, it got stuck in my hair and pulled and tore at it, very painful. Just glad I used it on myself first before a child

Back to my trusty plastic £2 comb from the chemist!
