We haven't been to Thorpe park but did do the angry bird land at the Kennedy Space centre. That was great, if a bit small.

Dd is crazy about angry birds. Her favourite is the Princess Leia bird.

I'd love it if the games were a bit less flimsy and more solid. They're quite expensive for what they are.

DS2's the Angry birds fan, in this house. He has angry birds bedding, cushions, toys, t-shirts and everything. He's quite severely autistic and non-verbal, so doesn't express an opinion about a favourite bird, but we were blown away when he was flapping his arms and announcing "Ogga da birrrrrr!" last year! He now runs around the house imitating all the sound effects. I'm slightly worried that he's getting the impression that all pigs are bad, though, because he's noticed that the pigs in Shaun the Sheep are also up to no good, most of the time.:o

DC like the red Angry Bird (sorry don't know its name!)

I haven't been to Thorpe Park for many years but went a few times as a youngster, I used to like getting the train to the little farm area.

We had great fun at Thorpe Park today despite the weather. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived and gave us our special wrist bands and welcome pack. We had brought the ponchos we were given on Happy Height Day, but neither my daughter 12 nor I wore them. We went straight to Colossus as it was closed last time but it was closed again when we got there, instead we rode Nemesis which we enjoyed so much we went on it again, using our Fastrack passes. It was the scariest ride my daughter had been on but she really enjoyed it. Then we went on x, she'd loved it last time but prefers Nemesis now. Colossus was running so we thought we'd go on that but by the time we got there it was closed again. This meant we tried Saw; last time she was way too frightened but after the success of Nemesis she felt brave enough. It was sawesome (groan).

We meandered back to Angry Birds Land where we were welcomed by a large number of Thorpe Park hosts. Our first ride was the dodg'ems, we had fun, then we decided to have dinner. We are at the fish & chip restaurant, both eating chicken goujons & chips. They were better than we had anticipated. We thought we'd have another go on the dodg'ems before the Angry Birds Film but someone called us over to the theatre, they had cleverly decided that the poor weather meant they should get on and show the film. I'm not going to say anything about it other than that it was very good, the best 4D ride I've been on and very clean.

After the film we had a delicious Angry Birds cake and then went on Nemesis again twice. It was even better in the rain, I think it went faster. Then we came back to Detonator which we both liked more than we thought we would. Our final ride was the Dodg'ems and my daughter went on her own for the first time,

Thank you Thorpe Park for a lovely afternoon, you had made a huge effort and did everything you could to make it fun.

WOW! What a fantastic evening we had. After being stuck in traffic on M25 for a loooooooong time we arrived around 6ish and went straight to Angry Bird Land. We hung around until it opened, chatted to the staff and then hit the rides that were open.

I had 3 children with me. 2 girls aged 10/11 and 1 14yr old boy. The girls went on the dodgems a lot. They were on Nemesis 13 times and Stealth twice. They loved it, got soaked and said it was brilliant.

The 4D Angry Bird movie was fun, and the popcorn was a nice touch - although it was salted... yuk.

Favourite Angry Bird - the girls liked the pink one, I love the red one and my teen likes the black bomber. Grin

Id like to thank Thorpe Park - they really looked after us. Not long arrived home, got dried and snuggled into PJs and hot chocolate.

We love our pass and have been three times since we got it.
Dd is even going with the school soon and I've only to pay the travel.

Got back about half an hour ago. A very long drive but worth it. Thanks ever so much again for including us, it has been an amazing day, one my DDs will never forget.

  • Who was in your group and how old are the children?

Myself & 2 DDs (ages 11 & 12).

  • What was your, and your family's, overall experience of the event?

It was amazing, even though it poured with rain. Thorpe Park really looked after us again, with VIP wristbands and no queuing all day. The 4D cinema was fantastic, both DDs loved it and the audience seemed to really enjoy (with the exception of a few younger children).
We really couldn't believe how lucky we were to have the park almost to ourselves for a few hours after 6.

  • What were your/your DCs' highlights of the event?

Mingling with celebs! DD1 was so excited to be sharing Stealth with Stacey Soloman, who is absolutely lovely, as are her partner, dad and children. DD2 is not a big fan of the more extreme rides but the addition of Angry Birds Land has made Thorpe Park better for her.
We went on Swarm. Nemesis, Stealth, Carousel, X, Rapids, Banana Boat, 4D cinema, Dodgems, Detonator, the smaller roller coaster and Storm Surge (maybe more, but they're the ones I can name now). It was a shame Colossus was shut again, maybe it's had it's day.

  • What is you favourite ride in ANGRY BIRDS LAND? And what was your DCs' favourite ride? The DDs loved the cinema and Dodgems. DD1 and I went on Detonator. It was good but pretty scary.

  • Who is your/your DCs' favourite Angry Birds character?

Stella (pink) for DD2, Red for DD1.

  • Overall, would you recommend ANGRY BIRDS LAND to your friends and family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, we can think of quite a few whose children would love it. On a sunny day Thorpe Park is a great day out. It is slightly less fun when it rains but the staff are always fabulous and we love all of the rides. Angry Bird Land makes Thorpe Park better for families with children of different ages, as previously there was little to interest the younger ones. A traditional play area would be nice too.

Thanks again Mumsnet and Thorpe Park.

Just one thing- I would have liked to book into the hotel but couldn't see an option online for booking without tickets, if anyone can advise for next time.

Photos to follow in the morning. :)

My two children (aged 8 & 10) have felt like royalty! The fact that they had fast passes and could stay in the park after hours was excellent. Little touches like the red carpet, cup cakes, balloons and free food made so much difference. Loved the feathers and popcorn on the theatre seats but agree that salted may not have been the best choice for children?
By far the favourite ride was the dodgers; lost count of the number of times they went in them!
Both were able to win a giant Star Wars angry bird thanks to free goes on the roll a ball race; both snuggled in bed with them as i type!
Despite the awful rain, staff were cheerful, polite and friendly. Can't thank Thorpe Park enough!!!

My son likes 'Terrence' because he's massive and strong and he can creep people out because he's so fast it's like he's teleporting.

My daughter likes 'Stella' because she has a bubble wand and she captures the pigs in the bubbles.

  • Who was in your group and how old are the children?

Me, ds1 (12), ds2 (10), ds3 (6)

  • What was your, and your family's, overall experience of the event?

In the boys' words: awesome, epic, amazing. I loved it too. As always, the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and polite. The rides were great fun and all the extras made it feel very special: a day the boys will remember for a long time. Although the food was free, the normal pricing seemed reasonable - especially with the extra discount an annual pass brings and having baked potatoes was a good healthier option. We left at 9, soaked to the skin but with grins from ear to ear. Hope the MNers heading back to Oxford and Cambridge got home in good time :)

  • What were your/your DCs' highlights of the event?

Ds1 4D Experience: 'so clever and brilliant fun' plus the free food; ds2: going on Stealth and Nemesis loads of times, plus getting to stand up on his seat and scream into a microphone - he's still wearing the hat he was given; ds3: the Angry Birds dodgems and the cinema. For me, same as ds2 Grin

  • What is your favourite ride in ANGRY BIRDS LAND? And what was your DCs' favourite ride?

Tbh we really enjoyed all of them, especially the cinema and the dodgems. The older two liked Detonator - not a ride we'd been on in previous visits, their faces as it came to stop were an absolute picture. Having rides available to smaller children is a great addition to the park. The 4D cinema was very well thought out and worked well - certainly my boys hadn't experienced anything like it before and now want to go again.

  • Who is your/your DCs' favourite Angry Birds character? Ds1, big red, ds2 and ds3 bomb, me the blue birds.

  • Overall, would you recommend ANGRY BIRDS LAND to your friends and family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not? We would certainly recommend it. It's suitable for everyone and genuinely good fun. It makes a nice pace change from the rest of the park. We were also pleasantly surprised to see so many affordable things in the shop. At busy times I can imagine it will be packed, with annual passes we're going to be bit more savvy about when we visit in future.

Thanks!

  • Who was in your group and how old are the children?

There were 4 of us in our group, my dh, my 11yo dd, my 8yo ds and I.

  • What was your, and your family's, overall experience of the event?

We loved the whole evening. The weather let us all down badly but despite this we had a fantastic time. We arrived about 6.30pm as traffic was quite busy and got greeted by a friendly staff member. We were given our VIP passes and headed straight to Angry Birds' Land. We then joined the queue to get into the cinema. The dcs absolutely loved the 4d cinema show and we all laughed throughout it. It was very cleverly done and I think will go down extremely well with people.
The salty popcorn was a nice idea but tasted awful. I think for our audience of mainly children toffee popcorn would have been a better choice.

  • What were your/your DCs' highlights of the event?

Being treated like royalty was a real treat for us. Free meals, free side stall games and free cakes was all fabulous. The cinema show was really fun and we loved the dodgems. Having a fast trak pass was another highlight for us. We also enjoyed celebrity spotting! Always good to be celebrity spotting! In fact it was all great! My dh (who is not easily impressed) said as we left 'what a brilliant evening!' Praise indeed!

  • What is your favourite ride in ANGRY BIRDS LAND? And what was your DCs' favourite ride?

We all loved the dodgems - very smooth and fast with a sensible bar belt that doesn't strangle you when you bump into other cars!

  • Who is your/your DCs' favourite Angry Birds character?

My dd and my favourite Angry Bird is the pink bird. My ds loved the bomb.

  • Overall, would you recommend ANGRY BIRDS LAND to your friends and

family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes we would. We thought it added to the experience of Thorpe park and think it will prove to be very popular with the public.
We will certainly be recommending it!

Who was in your group and how old are the children?
There were 5 of us - myself, my sister and my 3 children aged 3, 7 and 10. Dh couldn't make it as already had meetings booked and we didn't have enough notice of the day.

What was your, and your family's, overall experience of the event?
We had an absolutely, amazing day!! We had a 2 hr drive to get to Thorpe Park and arrived there at 1.30pm. We were given our Welcome pack and Fastrack wrist bands straight away and had a brilliant day going on lots of rides across the park. We were glad we had got there early as on the whole the weather held off until the evening.

At 6.30pm we headed back down to Angry Birds Land to be greeted by the very friendly Thorpe Park staff. We watched the 'celebrities' on the red carpet and had our photos taken with Red.

By this time we were pretty hungry, and the treat of free food in the fish and chips restaurant was amazing. We all felt very well looked after and this certainly made our day extra special. The food was delicious!

Straight after our meal we were quickly ushered in to the 4D cinema. Ds was extremely nervous of this and we refused to sit in the moving seats. This didn't spoil it for us though as the film was brilliant and we all loved it. DD (3) thought it was incredible and couldn't believe we were getting wet from the screen! I would like to go again and sit in the good seats!

After the film we had goes on the dodgems, detonator and Nemesis Inferno. The children's favourite was the racing stall where everyone was rolling balls in to holes in order to make their angry bird move forward to win the race. We managed to make 3 wins and chose to have 2 medium sized angry birds rather than an enormous one!! This was certainly a massive treat as it is not something we would normally pay for. The staff on this game were brilliant, especially as they were being kept so busy! Ds was very disappointed he couldn't go on the ladder game due to the (by this time) very heavy rain.

What were your/your DCs' highlights of the event?
Fastrack tickets, free food, cupcakes and 4D cinema were the highlight of the adults' day. DS says his highlight was the Angry birds racing game. DD1 loved the food in the fish and chips restaurant.

What is your favourite ride in ANGRY BIRDS LAND? And what was your DCs' favourite ride?
My Dsis loved Nemsis Inferno the best. . DD1 (10) loved Detonator. Ds (7) loved the Dodgems, especially as he was able to take control of the steering wheel! DD2 (3) couldn't go on anything in Angry birds Land Sad. I was surprised to find out that she was even too small (1m) for the teacups.

Who is your/your DCs' favourite Angry Birds character?
Ds likes Red the best and the DDs like Stella.

Overall, would you recommend ANGRY BIRDS LAND to your friends and family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes we would recommend Angry Birds Land. It does add more to overall experience. The dodgems were a favourite of ds, who doesn't like the bigger rides. We all thought the 4D cinema was fab (even ds once he relaxed a little!). It doesn't however provide anything for children at below 1.1m, which is a shame especially as this area does appeal to younger children. The games would be very expensive on a normal day and wouldn't be something that we would usually take part in.

We are extremely grateful for this experience. We have had a brilliant time and lovely every minute of it! The rain was horrendous, but didn't dampen our spirits Grin. We want to do it all again!

I went with my husband and Ds1 aged 10 and DS2 aged 7

We had an amazing time. I can't believe how well we were treated. The staff were amazing and we rubbed shoulders with quite a few celebs! If you need a family in the future we would jump at the chance to go again!!

My boys loved how we just went on the rides without lining up and the amount of junk food they had Wink. They really really enjoyed the angry birds 4D show and were squealing with laughter.

All of our favourite ride in the land were the dodgems. We liked the way were we actually allowed to bump each other (some places don't allow this)

My sons' favourite bird is the black one.

We would definitely recommend the land. The show was brilliant and it was a place we could enjoy all together.

Well done Thorpe Park and a HUGE thank you.
