As if by magic the postie just delivered them!
Mmmmmm yum! We've tried the roast beef, and they're just like Roast Beef Monster munch.
I don't like the Salt & Vinegar though.

Now I'm over my excitement, I'll review properly:
Q1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC?
Both my son and I preferred the roast beef flavour - very moreish.
The salt & vinegar tasted a bit odd, and too sweet.

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain?
Yes I would pick wholegrain over another type, as I like the taste and feels like a better choice.

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box?
My son enjoyed them as his afternoon snack and would be thrilled to eat them again but he can't as they're all mine

Q1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC?
Me: tried both, liked roast beef but didnt like S&V (but never do). Tasted like Monster Munch but nicer!
Ds1 (6yo): tried both, but only liked roast beef
Ds2 (5yo): tried both, liked both, but preferred roast beef

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain?
Great! Would choose in preference to a snack that wasn't whole grain or had more calories.
I was a bit concerned about the sugar levels - higher than other crisps we have at home (did a quick comparison of ingredients)

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box?
Loved them. Would be very happy to have roast beef flavour as a snack (although they aren't actually allowed crisps in school lunch boxes).

Received ours in the post this morning, we are having a taster session this evening after dinner. Kids are pretty excited about the whole thing :)

just got home from preschool to find the parcel - DS is thrilled and wants crisps for dinner (ha! as if).

He will try some tomorrow :)

I did a little dance earlier when I realised what was in my unexpected parcel. My neighbour saw, and now thinks I'm utterly insane.

Q1 - flavours
I gave the Roast Beef to the DCs. They smell like Monster Munch farts. DS(4) says the flavour is "delicious". I had the S&V and loved them. Clean flavour, no greasy aftertaste, good strength of flavour, etc.

Q2 - wholegrain
I'm not particularly worried about my children's WG intake partly because it is often a con - for example I was unclear whether the "56% wholegrain" claim meant "56% of the grain products" or "56% of the total ingredients" and had to dig to.find out - and partly because we are quite good at genuinely WG breakfast and bread so the rest of the day doesn't matter. These snacks would have a slight advantage over otherwise-similar snacks on the market but other factors such as cost, packet size and flavour would take precedence.

I might feel slightly less guilty about offering them to other people's PFBs though Grin

Q3 - what did the DCs think?
DS(2) ate a whole bag and whined asked for more. DS(4) said they were "delicious" and "brilliant" and asked why we don't have them all the time. They would gladly have them in lunchboxes for picnics etc but they would fall foul of "no crisps" lunchbox rule for school.

Q1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC?

Really enjoyed the Roast Beef flavour, my youngest DC who is 4 had 2 bags of the Roast Beef flavour one after the other. All DC's liked them

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain?

I would chose them over other crisps but I don't think my DC's know the difference, they just eat any crips we have in the draw.

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box?

They would like them in their lunchboxes, I will be eating more of them myself and I don't really eat crisps

DD1 6 and DD2 4 tried them with me and both girls were very enthusiastic but then they very rarely get crisps so it was a rare treat.

Q1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC?

The salt and vinegar tasted a bit strong for all of us, I doubt I ould buy such a sharp flavour. The beef were very nice but by contrast could do with a slightly more intense flavour. I thought they tasted like weaker flavoured Monster Munch. The girls loved them.

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain?

I wouldn't choose them as a source of wholegrain iyswim but definitely prefer over a potato crisp. I didn't get the greasy aftertaste of potato snack. I would be happy for my girls to eat these occassionally.

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box?

They loved them but they are 6 and 4 and would eat cake for supper every night if they could.
DD1 takes school dinner so not relevant and these sort of snack are banned from lunchboxes at her school anyway. I might pack them on a picnic as a treat.

Thank you for the opportunity to test. I am pretty sure we will buy the beef in the future.

Q1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC?

We all preferred salt and vinegar, though DD2 (aged 3) only ate one and, although she said that she liked it, followed up with "but it tastes slightly funny". On reflection I don't think she's had salt and vinegar very often before, which may explain it.

Both DCs were really excited about the idea of the roast beef ones but then announced that they were "yuck".

They had quite a few games of noughts and crosses with them though...

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain?

I really like the idea of a healthier crisp-style snack as DD1 (aged 6) is always pestering me to put crisps in her lunchbox (apparently "everyone else has them"). In theory I might well choose these over other crisp or savoury biscuit style snacks that weren't wholegrain (although I'll check the salt levels first). In practice, alas, the kids just weren't that keen.

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box?

They enjoyed the game of noughts and crosses but just weren't too interested in them as a snack. I'll definitely try the salt and vinegar ones in DD1's lunchbox though and try to remember to report back on whether she ate them or not!

Great excitement in the Yumski household at being picked! Thank you Mumsnet. So here's the skinny:
Q1: what do you think of the flavours you tried and what did Dcs think? I thought the roast beef and s&v were both quite nice and I liked the texture. Slightly preferred the roast beef. DS1 aged 12 thought both flavours were 'awesome' and says overall he prefers them to ordinary crisps, and DS2 aged 9 liked them and says he'd give them 9 out of 10. High praise indeed.

Q2 What do you think about product being wholegrain and would you choose them over a non wholegrain product? I think the deciding factor for me would be no msg rather than whether product was wholegrain. I would still buy it as a treat not for every day consumption. But the fact they liked them so much means I will buy these instead of ordinary crisps.
Q3: would they take the hoops and crosses as a lunch box snack? Yes, they've already pleaded. Will I let them? Now and again, not every day.

1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC?i got the crisps today. my kids loved the beef flavoured one and as im writing this review the beef packet is finished. it kind of reminded me of quavers which i love but i thought the texture is too crunchy. if it could be made less crunchie i would love it too. but i would get this for them when in stores.

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain? i would choose them over the crisp they currently eat yes.

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box? they dont have lunchboxes but i would definetly get this, i like that they can also have a little game while eating the snack. this gets a big yes from me. and i am quite fussy myself.but pleae try and made them a little less crunchy.

Q1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC? We tried both, I liked the roast beef and found them very moreish! DS5 didn't like either very much.

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain?
Yes, I take any opportunity to sneak a little more goodness in his diet!

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box?
DS was really excited to play with them (big noughts and crosses fan). He's sensitive to strong flavours though and found them a bit too much. The packaging however, is really appealing and until he tasted them was very excited! I can see why these would be popular.

Thanks so much for selecting us! Off to finish off his bag multipack

They disappeared very quickly so I think everyone liked them.
Both flavours tasted quite monstermunch like roast beef is the best but both very good.

The kids would be thrilled to get them in a packed lunch and I have hidden the rest for lunches.

I'd choose them over a wheat based snack as we do eat too much of it

Q1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC?

We liked both flavours, but I preferred the salt & vinegar as did 2 of my children. However one of my daughters loves the roast beef.

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain?

It's great that they are a source of wholegrain, I wouldn't say this would be a reason I'd buy them, I generally go on what the kids like.

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box?

The kids had fun playing hoops and crosses with them. The kids would love to see them in their lunch boxes however I don't think the school like crisps etc in there.

A hit with my family either way and would defiantly purchase them in shops if the prices was right.

Thanks for letting us test the product.

Ours arrived today-thank you!

Q1 What do you think of the flavours you tried? Which one did you like the most? And how about your DC?

I preferred the salt and vinegar ones, two of the DCs preferred the beef flavour, the other DC liked both equally.

I was disappointed not to be able to try the prawn cocktail flavour, as was my youngest DC as that is our favourite crisp flavour.

Q2 What do you think of the fact that Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain? Would you choose them over another snack that isn't wholegrain?

Good that they have wholegrain in them, yes I would choose them over another snack that wasn't wholegrain.

Q3 What did your DC think of Hoops and Crosses as a snack? Would they be happy to get them in their lunch box?

They went down well, the similarity with monster munch was noted, but they all said they were better as they are more bitesized and you seem to get more of them in a pack.

Lots of flavour to them as well, as some crisps/snacks are weak on taste.

I will definitely buy them, looking forward to tasting the prawn cocktail flavour.

Plus point for me that they are 84 cals and 0.4g of sat fat per pack.

Thumbs up from my household Smile
