My hair is very fine, quite thin, curly and quite dry. I am in my 50s and have my hair professionally coloured about every 6 weeks. I don't use any products on my hair, other than a good shampoo and conditioner. I air dry it and never use a hairdryer.

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.

No, have never tried Aveda products before.

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo

Liked the shampoo. Lathered up well and left my hair feeling very clean with a nice perfume.

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner

Not impressed with this. The conditioner left it very straw-like and not at all conditioned. After air drying my hair was frizzy and very dry.

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer

Very strong perfume, so strong that it would have clashed with any perfume I wanted to wear that day. Didn't want to use it in the morning as I was concerned that the very strong smell would get adverse comments. Did not notice any effects from this at all.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)

A tiny improvement in volume, also a reduction in hair loss, but again only slight.

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?

If I had noticed any marked improvement I would have carried on using it, even though it is very expensive indeed. Without any such improvement, I really doubt it as I don't like the effect the "conditioner" has on my hair.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?

I might, if the person was very well off and could afford to try out such an expensive range.

Many thanks for allowing me to take part in the trial - it was definitely worth a go!

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.

No (short answer!)

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo

I didn't notice an exfoliating effect. Worked fine as a shampoo. Wasn't much enamoured of the smell of it though, a bit musty.

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner

I didn't notice a thickening effect, and it didn't leave my hair as tangle free or as glossy as my usual conditioner.

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer

I didn't feel like it revitalised my scalp. It has a slight volume improving effect.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)

TBH I have noticed no difference at all! Wonder did I get the placebo...

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, I didn't notice a difference in thickness, and it was less good for my overall hair condition than my usual shampoo/conditioner.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, certainly at the price it's sold for I couldn't recommend it, given it seems less good for my hair than my usual (far cheaper) product and hasn't had any substantial thickening or volumising effect.

It was interesting to try the products out though, so thank you for picking me to be part of the test.

Firstly thankyou so much for letting me try this. As a lifetime user of whatever hair products I can get fairly cheap, I've never ever treated myself to any hair product of this price or for that matter, effectiveness. I've never actually believed the claims I see on the telly, as it's always seemed to be a load of made-up spurious unscientific claims with funny names.

I am now going to eat my words in this review.

Basic info which might help in understanding my comments: very long (waist) hair, very greasy and I get bad dandruff. Previous shampoos to trial, Head and Shoulders 2 in 1, and Boots camomile shampoo and conditioner (alternating weeks)

Q1 no, never used them before
Q2 Shampoo: nice smell, seemed a bit thin. Hard to get to lather on first wash, though much easier on second. Need 2 because of greasy tendency. Only problem was that no way would one bottle last me 8 weeks! If I washed at normal frequency, I'd be out in 2-3 weeks. I had to restrict myself to using it once a week, with intervening washes with the Boots stuff.

Conditioner: Loved it. Really worked on my hair to give extra volume. This is what made the difference. To begin with I followed instructions and used it on my whole head but I was using far too much and so cut back to only on the bottom foot or so of hair. As it was, I ran out 2 weeks ago.

Scalp stuff: Made my hair limp and horrible. Sorry. Hated it. I usually dry it upside down to give extra volume and spraying liquid on it made it just compress down and look like I'd been out in the rain. I wish I'd been sent a second conditioner and not this! Rather defeated the object of adding volume, though I expect it works a lot better on someone with a lot shorter hair.

Q3: Hair loss seems to have slowed: I've got tufty bits growing again! Though it will take years to make a difference to the bottom part, the conditioner hopefully will help it to look ok till the new growth catches up.

Q4: I'm going to save up for the conditioner. I can't believe I'm saying this. I really really like the conditioner. It works.

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.

No, I've never seen these products before or used them.

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo

Cleaned my hair very well, lathered up easily but didnt notice much exfoliation and thought the smell was a bit too strong.

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner

My hair is very dry so I use a lot of conditioner. I only put this on the ends and not on the roots to try and make it last. I didn't notice much difference from my usual conditioner really. My hair still feels quite dry!

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer

I think the smell of this is too strong. After spraying it on in the mornings, I could smell it every time I turned my head! It was a bit overpowering in my opinion. It did give slightly more volume but I don't think it did much for my scalp.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)

Hair loss has slightly reduced I'd say. I don't get quite so much falling out in the mornings when brushing my hair. Also slight improvement in volume, although not so drastic than anybody else would notice. My hair still feels quite dry too.

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, apart from the expensive price tag, I didn't feel that it offered any real benefit to me. And the results weren't radical enough to justify spending that kind of money.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not. The strong smell of the spray is far too overpowering and the shampoo and conditioner didnt offer any worthwhile results for me.

Thank you so much for allowing me to take part in this trial, I'm willing to give anything a go to try and stop my hair from falling out!

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.Yes. Scalp shampoo and conditioner / Hand cream
Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo Smells lovely and is pleasant to use. However, my scalp didn't like it anywhere near as much as my hair did.
  • Invati Thickening Conditioner Again, it smells lovely and I do think it made a noticeable difference to my hair but I had to be v careful about getting it on my scalp as it made it v sore
  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer I didn't find this terribly easy to use. The instructions were vague and if I wasn't blowdrying my hair straight after spraying, I felt it made my roots greasy. It does, however, make my hair seem thicker and bouncier and my teenage dd1 loves it. It also really stings if you get it on any dry skin or tiny cuts on your hands.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?) I haven't been able to use it every day because it has made my scalp sore. However, using it every other day or so has made my hair bouncier and possibly it has a bit more volume. The conditioner didn't seem to last long, even though I haven't used it every day.
Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not? No. Scalp and price issues. If the range cost half as much as it does, I would be tempted.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes but only those with lots of money.

Thanks for the chance to try out the range. It feels luxurious and I really, really love the conditioner. But the spray is ridiculously over-priced for what it is and the conditioner doesn't last long enough to justify the cost, even though I really liked it.

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.
Yes, sensitive cleanser and moisturiser.

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo

My favourite of the three. I liked the smell and consistency, but mainly because it completely cleared my psoriasis. It felt lovely, cold and tingly and left my scalp feeling very clean and fresh.

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner

I didn't like this, I have very dry hair and it just wasn't conditioning enough, I looked like I had a bird's nest on my head afterwards.

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer

The smell was a little overpowering. I liked how it felt, nice and soothing, but don't think it made any difference, it maybe gave a bit of route lift to give a bit of volume.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)
A bit more volume, but a bit too cave woman rather than the thick glossy locks I was after.

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would use the shampoo again as it really did make a difference to the condition of my scalp. Wouldn't use the conditioner as it just wasn't conditioning enough. Although I liked the Revitaliser it just didn't make enough of a difference to warrant the cost.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?
If someone had scalp problems I would recommend the shampoo for reasons stated above, I wouldn't recommend the other products.

Thank you

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.

No I haven't tried Aveda products before

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo & Invati Thickening Conditioner

I liked this both of these and loved the fragrance. Enjoyed using them, and like the texture of both - they felt quite luxurious. Both of them resulted in more hair volume and silkier texture.

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer

By contrast I didn't like this at all - it seemed to make my hair dry and undo all the good work of the shampoo and conditioner.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)

Using just the shampoo and conditioner gave more volume and a better texture to the hair. My hair looked shinier and fuller - the best it has done for a while.

I didn't notice a dramatic reduction in hair loss, but the other effects made up for it!

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would continue using the shampoo and conditioner, as I liked the effect they had on my hair, and I like the fragrance. I'd probably ask for it as a present though for Christmas, birthdays etc as the price is at the very top end of what I'd pay for shampoo and conditioner.

I'd be unlikely to use the scalp revitaliser again, as I didn't get good results from it.

I plan to investigate more Aveda products as well.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - I think it gave good results for me

I'd like to echo moonbells and say thank you. I really enjoyed this. Smile

  1. Have I used any Aveda products before?

Yes: Rosemary shampoo and conditioner, back pre-children and occasionally since those halcyon days, when given these as a present.
Hand cream (which is very good value, anyone reading this; smells delicious; is amazingly un-greasy and very moisturising).

  1. Shampoo - I liked this. I found it lathered just fine and (more importantly) rinsed out very effectively. I've thought about this discrepancy between my impression and other comments and I think it must come down to how you feel about lather. I think I'm a little suspicious of over-exuberant lather. Or perhaps I'm in more of a soft-water area??

Conditioner - Really loved this. The shampoo and the conditioner combined left my hair really soft. Obviously, this is what you sort of expect from conditioner but ... I tend not to use conditioner because my hair is so fine, any conditioner leaves it overburdened, flattened, and depressed. Who wants that? A day's tidying and organising will do that to me - I don't need to wear it on my head.
Anyway, the Invati conditioner didn't do this. The shampoo and the conditioner combined beautifully: I really did have smooth, soft, non-limp hair.

They both lasted a long time - I still have some left; I didn't have to wash my hair any more or less than usual.

*And (this is important) I have dyed hair and the shampoo and conditioner didn't interfere with the colour. This is a huge positive.

Invati Scalp Revitalizer - I'm really sorry, I haven't used this yet. I'm going to go and do it now, and report back.
The thing is, the shampoo and conditioner had a really good effect on my hair and so I was just a bit complacent, forgot it was supposed to be a trial, and just ambled off with my rather nice hair.
Basically, on the mornings when I washed and conditioned my hair with the Invati things I achieved - over-achieved, indeed - my personal grooming-event-horizon (hair looking good!) and I just whisked off into the day without thought to, you know, going further.

  1. What I've noticed:

My hair did feel and look thicker and heavier. I do mean "feel": my hair felt "weightier" on my shoulders.
I don't know about hair loss: I'm in denial about that, and staying there.
It felt really soft: my daughter stroked my hair and said I felt like a lovely cat. How cool is that?
The softness combined with non-flatness/limpness was just brilliant. And it wasn't at all fly-away and static-ey. It really has felt really lovely.

In the interests of scientific research, I washed my hair with something else this afternoon and it feels all ... crackley: actually hard, stiff and brittle. It's very different from the hair texture I've become used to.

  1. Would I use it again?

Yes, I would but, sadly, it would almost certainly be purchased by me for myself only if I was feeling particularly flush with funding and worthy of indulgence. It's made me really happy using it (call me shallow, but having my hair look better than usual did give me a lift) but I think it'll have to go lower on the list of household essentials than ... I don't know ... music lessons, I guess. Sad

  1. Would I recommend it?

Yes.

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.
no
Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo lovely. Really good quality shampoo. Head felt really clean and refreshed after use. Very stingy if you got it in your eyes though.
  • Invati Thickening Conditioner great. I think this is they key product here, it worked really well for me, making my hair feel thicker, softer and it gave me confidence to wear my hair loose.
  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer it made my scalp really sore so I barely used it. Something in it irritated my skin

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?) i like my hair! Despite desperately needing my roots done, my hair feels great, so I feel more confident about my whole appearance! Definately thicker, but still get handfuls coming out when I wash it.

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?
no I can't afford it
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?
if they were suffering with limp hair and were wealthy

the packaging needs development. Whilst it is fine to have lots of languages on, why not divide the information up by language instead of presenting us with a dense block of script with few clues as to where we can find the information we are looking for.

My hair is short, fine and very soft with a tendency to turn into fluff! This is aggravated by living in a soft water area (my hair behaves better when we visit friends with harder water!) It is getting dryer and finer with age.

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.
I go to an Aveda hair salon to have my hair coloured and styled. I have not used the products at home apart from Phomollient which I bought at the salon but was not terribly impressed with as it didn't seem strong enough for me.

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo - I really liked it. It felt quite tingly and invigorating. Mine lathered fine but we do have very soft water

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner - I liked this too although I used it quite sparingly as my hair is so fine it is very easily weighed down

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer - I LOVED this! It smells gorgeous, in a very clean kind of way, and I love that the smell stayed with me for a while. I don?t think the instructions were very clear though, luckily my hairdresser explained how it had been demonstrated to them.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)
My hair feels thicker and has more volume and texture to it when blow dried. I think less is falling out but cannot be certain as that often goes in cycles. The only drawback for me is that I usually only wash my hair once a week (to avoid it turning into fluff) and it did seem to build up a bit so I felt like I needed to wash it more often but that was not really a major problem.

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think it is probably more than I could justify spending on everyday haircare but I will have to see when I run out of the Revitaliser spray! If I did splash out it would be on that.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes but I think the price might put other people off too.

Thank you for giving me the chance to try the products out, I really did love this trial because I am addicted to haircare products!

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.
Yes I have used Aveda shampoo and conditioner before - I used the colour save one.

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo

I loved the smell of this shampoo and my hair felt really clean afterwards, I would recommend it.

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner

Absolutely loved this - had to be careful not to use too much. The first few days I was using too much and it didnt do much for my hair, but when I got theamoutn right it left my hair feeling really soft and conditioned.

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer

I used this religiously over the weeks. I think by about week 4 I had started noticing some difference - my hair is cut into a really straight, sleek bob and it made it feel a lot thicker. I did seem to have less hair loss and the smell of it was gorgeous and lingered in my hair for about half a day everytime I used it.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)
My hair is shiney and looks overall in better condition since using it. I have lost as much hair as I usually do and my hair just feels so much easier to manage. It has made my hair feel thicker. I got 3 compliments on my hair in the last 2 weeks so it must be doing something.

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I will, I have taken to it and really like using it. I know it is expensive but that is my indulgence, I spend a lot of hair products, I love them. I like Aveda and love this range.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I definately would, I already have! My mum complains that her hair doesnt feel thick as she gets older as hers is thinning. I told her to give this a try. Great smell, great shine and lovely to manage hair. Overall I was really impressed.

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.

Ive used the generous sample sizes of shampoo for curly hair

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo I felt I need two washes just to get a decent lather going. As a shampoo it was fine. It cleaned my hair. Loved the smell.

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner I have fine curly hair that tends to get frizzy, I didnt feel that it conditioned it enough and had to use lots of argan oil after

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer At first I found it too tingly but eventually I noticed that it made my hair fuller but that this didnt last all day. I found the bottle hard to grip and to get a good pump action if I had been in the shower and the room was abit steamy. It was abit fiddly. Loved the smell reminded me of holidays in India.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?) I havent noticed much difference, if anything, it is drier. The volume increases after using but not for long. No difference to hair loss at all. Sadly.

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not? No. Its far too expensive and drying.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not? If they were rich friends, maybe. I wouldnt recommended to my mum who really needs it as her hair is thinning with age, just think it would be wasteful financially.

Thank you for letting me take part and Im sorry I cant be more upbeat about it!!

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? I don't think I've ever used Aveda products before.

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo-I found the shampoo didn't lather up as much as I'd like, besides that I found it left my hair feeling really clean and soft. it takes little rinsing, so great when I'm in a rush.
  • Invati Thickening Conditioner -I loved the conditioner! It smells gorgeous and really made a difference to the volume of my hair. I haven't noticed any less hair loss but definitely an improvement to the condition of my hair in comparison to my usual brand. I also noticed a dramatic reduction in frizz :)
  • Invati Scalp Revitaliser-I didn't get on with this so well, I found it left my hair feeling a bit greasy and applying it twice a day was pretty laborious.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)Yes, I have noticed a difference in volume during the day, this does tend to fade towards evening however.

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not? I would love to, particularly the conditioner. It is massively out of my price range, so sadly my answer to this question is no.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I would recommend it as its a really luxurious product to use.
Thank you so much for including me in this trial, I have really enjoyed it!

Q1. I had not used any Aveda products before.
Q2. - Invati Exfoliating Shampoo- this felt promising when I was using it, like it was volumizing my hair

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner- I think it is way too heavy for fine hair
  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer- Felt good to use, but really didn't make a lot of difference

Q3. Honestly , I think my hair is flatter and feels heavier and more lank. Really disappointed
Q4. I was very optimistic about this trial, and I would pay a fortune for a product that volumised my hair, but this really didn't do it, so no I will not continue to use the product
Q5. I wouldn't recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative. But I would say that I had taken part in the trial, and the product just wasn't right for my hair type

I have very fine, thin, greasy hair. Needs to be washed daily, sometimes twice a day, if I am going out in the evening
So I need a product to volumise, while not making it greasy.
Most conditioners automatically dull my hair

Sorry, my response couldn't be more positive

Q1. No I have not used Aveda products before although DW did when she was an affluent singleton. Such products would never even have been on my radar I'm afraid!

Q2. Invati Exfoliating Shampoo - thought it was fantastic in many ways. Not only did it seem to leave my hair cleaner which meant I was only washing x3 a week rather than daily but it seems to have cleared up my dandruff too!

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner - well I found it made all the difference to my hair in a positive way. It didn't leave my hair with any type of heavy residue and seemed to keep it lustrous and shiny in a way that my hair has never looked!

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer - I'm afraid I just didn't get on with this. I didn't really clue-up as to when/how I should be applying it until half way through the test. And I couldn't seem to remember to do it twice a day or even once a day half of the time (time is of the essence for me and I don't spend any longer than necessary on personal care).

Q3. Well everyone (and I am not exaggerating) has been asking me what I've done to my hair and even mates in the pub have been saying that my hair has never looked so good! This whole Aveda Invati regime has certainly positively given my hair more volume, more lustre and just a healthier look and feel. And that has made me feel more confident!

Q4. It is rather expensive for our budget but I may well be very tempted to buy the conditioner and shampoo, especially as it has visibly made a very positive difference.

I haven't finished either the shampoo or the conditioner yet so it is proving to be good value in the sense that the products are long-lasting!

I think it might be the type of thing that I ask for as a birthday/Christmas pressie from stuck-for-ideas family members ;-).

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I most definitely would to everyone. It clearly does the trick, has a lovely smell/perfume which lingers in the hair for days and gives the type of positive results that so many products claim to deliver but usually don't. This one does. It is actually a luxury product that I would consider to be money very well spent!

Thank you for including me in the product review - it has opened my eyes to a whole new spectrum of products!

Seems from reading the comments, that everyone with very fine or soft hair doesn't get on with the conditioner. Mine's like wire wool, which I suspect is why it worked as it's thinning due to hair loss rather than just being fine in the first place. IYSWIM!

Glad someone else mentioned the awful stinging if it got in an eye. Really bad!

My hair is fine but there's a lot of it - I liked the conditioner a lot, so long as I kept it away from my scalp.

Thanks very much for sending me these products. I'm on a tight budget, and would never have bought myself such expensive hair products.

I am early 50s, and have very fine, and thinning, hair, cut into a layered bob. In recent months I've been feeling quite upset about my hair because it's dark brown, and I can see my pale scalp through it. Also, I need to wash and blow dry my hair every day because it has a tendency to be a bit greasy, and because it's fine, also gets very limp very quickly. Awful hair!!

Q1. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried any Aveda products before? If so, which ones? This could be any product, not just hair care.

No, I hadn't heard of Aveda.

Q2. Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you think of:

  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo

It took me a couple of days to get used to the smell, but I love it now; a very refreshing smell.
I found I only need a small amount to lather up and wash my hair; I still have some left after 8 weeks.
The effect on my hair was almost instanteous - and wonderful. My hair lost it's limpness, and wasn't greasy any more.

  • Invati Thickening Conditioner

Love this too. Most conditioners are too 'heavy' for my fine hair. This one probably didn't make my hair as shiny and glossy as some do, but it also didn't weigh it down.

Within 2 days of using both the shampoo and conditioner, I couldn't believe the difference. My hair looked far thicker and bouncier, and I didn't have the awful problem of my scalp showing. Amazing difference!!

  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer

I'm not sure about this. The instructions were awful, and I didn't use it for several days. I have been trying it since, and I think it makes a bit of a difference because I put it on before I blow dry (which I have to do every day), and it seems to add a bit of body, and helps to hold some shape to my hair for most of the day. It can be a bit 'heavy' though, and I have to be careful not to put too much on.

The smell is a bit overpowering and a bit of an acquired taste [sic], but as I can't wear perfume this doesn't overly bother me. If I was wearing perfume I can imagine this smell could clash horribly.

Q3.Now that you've been using the range for 8 weeks, have you noticed any difference to your hair? If so please tell us what has changed (e.g more volume, reduction in hair loss, thicker feeling hair?)

The difference is amazing!!! My hair looks far thicker. My scalp doesn't show through any more, and I feel far more confident as a result. People have even asked me if I've lost weight (if only!) because my hair looks so much fuller!! I find it hard to believe to be honest, but am thrilled with the result.

Can't really comment on hair loss; my hair definitely looks thicker and feels as though it has more body, and that's enough for me!

Q4. Do you think you will continue to use the Invati haircare range after the trial? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I'll continue with the shampoo and conditioner, despite the expense, because they have made my hair look wonderful again.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Aveda Invati range to a friend or relative? If so, why? If not, why not?

Based on my experience, I would recommend that someone might consider trying an expensive range like this, whereas before I'd probably have been dismissive of the claims of such expensive hair products. I'd definitely recommend these specific products to anyone with hair like mine.

Thanks again! I'm a convert.

Just to add:

I used shampoo every day, but conditioner only every other day.
I liked the texture of the shampoo, and found a I only needed a little bit to make a good lather - I'm in a soft water area.

Think the packaging needs a rethink. Couldn't make head nor tale of what to do with the scalp revitaliser, and still don't really understand what its supposed to be for, how to use it, how often, how much. I ended up spraying on a bit before I blow dried in the morning.

Wording far too small!

Price very high, and I'd have never even looked at these things if I hadn't been chosen as a guinea pig.

Love the effect on my hair though, thanks again Smile
