Netflix, an internet subscription service to watch TV shows and films instantly, are looking for Mumsnetters to try their service out for one month and to give feedback on the service on MN. If you aren't familiar with Netflix here's what the folks there have to say: "Netflix has thousands of hours of tv and film to be enjoyed by all members of the family. We have recently introduced a Just For Kids section that allows children to watch tv in a safe and friendly environment."

They want 100 Mumsnetters with at least one child aged between 3 and 12 years to test the service for one month and give their feedback throughout this time. You can access Netflix via any device which has an internet connection - eg your phone, Wii, PS3, Xbox, Smart TV, PC, Mac, etc

The product test will involve you signing up for the free trial online. To do this you will need to visit signup.netflix.com/ and sign up for a month's free trial.
You will be required to fill in your credit card details to take part - but don't worry you wont have to pay anything. To unsubscribe at the end of the free trial, if you wish to do so, all you need to do is go to 'Your account and help' then click on 'cancel membership' and follow the instructions on that page. The monthly fee would be £5.99 by direct debit.

If you would like to take part please sign up here.

We will email those selected with the sign up details and a link to the feedback thread. Please note this test will start next week so please only apply if you are around then.

All those who add their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a 40" Samsung LED TV and a PS3.

If you are already an existing Netflix customer please also feel free to leave your feedback. All those who do add their comments will be entered into a separate prize draw to win a £100 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I am normally a sucker for this type of thing but let's be honest this is for people, like me, who would forget to unsubscribe.

We subscribed for Netflix's free trial a couple of weeks ago and we won't be subscribing when the trial is up. The films on there are as old as God himself and there just isn't a satisfactory enough range of films to tempt me into subscribing to part with £72 a year. Get some films that have been made in the last 3 years and I'm there. Until then, I'll wait to borrow the DVD or buy it if it's a film that I really like.

If I can watch star trek reruns then I am in. Grin

Erm...no thanks. I'll forget to cancel and it will be something else that I'm paying for that I don't need. I could use the money I'm saving to buy myself a new TV! Grin

Glad to see I'm not the only one who will forget to cancel. No thanks to this one.

Me and DH have been vacillating between Netflix and Lovefilm since before Christmas without being able to make a decision which to try. This might sway the argument when he gets home...

We will email selected folks a note towards the end of the month to remind them about the monthly fee. Thanks to those who have signed up so far!

The cynic in me is wondering if 100% of applicants will be chosen, thus maximizing Netflix's chances of profiting when people inevitably forget to cancel their subscription...

Done. DH has been looking at subscribing to Netflix now we've got fibre broadband and are likely to be able to actually watch stuff.

We are already signed up. Can we still join in?

Done.

We had a similar service in Switzerland, and it was great for a rainy day, or when the kids were ill.

I'd love to do this as DH is trying to persuade me to get Netflix. But my DD is too old Sad

I've signed up, i'm sure it can't be that hard to remember to unsubscribe after if necessary - put it in your phone calender or reminder on phone!

We signed up a few weeks ago! Anything we can do about that?
I can't see how £4.99 a month = £72 a year Blush
I checked terms and conditions and you cancel anytime so if you forget to cancel after first month, you can then cancel following month.

Done. Always looking for something my 7 year old can put on for himself and his little brothers while I'm cooking tea etc.

Lisad - because it's £5.99 a month not £4.99!
I am leaving Lovefilm because they are awful so this seems a good opportunity to try Netflix.

DS has been pestering us to sign up to this and so far have resisted temptation but maybe this is the dangling carrot we needed :-)

The only reason to do this is to try and be the one mner that wins the tv and ps3.

As mrsarchie said, this ain't no new release-fest. The films are old (some of them reeeeeaaaaalllllyyyyyy old. Older than me) and even the 'new' ones you have to blow the dust off first. We have subscribed for well over a year now, and it is truly crapola. If I could work out how dh subscribed to the thing, I would be in subscribing. We are dyed in the wool unsubscribers, having had an AA membership for two years after we emigrated...

So, remember to unsubscribe, ladies. And good luck with winning the tv.

And, of course everyone will get signed up. They just won't all get put in the draw for the tv. Even if you contact Netflix direct you can have the first month free. It's the only reason to bother.
