This thread is for the MNers who have been testing a new Samsung G-series American-style fridge freezer.

This is the first stage of feedback, asking you for your initial impressions of the fridge freezer. The second stage of feedback will happen in a couple of months when you've had a while to get to know your new fridge freezer!

Below are some questions to get you started. Please feel free to add your own comments as well.

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

Thanks very much for taking part,

I like it very much. Its big, but the space is used really well - much better than my old samsung fridge, which was a similar size. I had the old luddite moment trying to figure out how to change the temperature and what all the buttons mean, but now aside from the icemaker which I havent figured out yet, I have got to grips with it all. My DP went "hmmmm" but I know that he will be bragging about how WE won the fridge in days to come. The kids are very excited, and they are all drinking water!!!!!!! Amazing. What dont I like....Well at the moment the ice maker because I cant get it to work. the true test will be daily useage.

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I like it. The front is stainless steel, but the sides are textured. My last fridge was white, and so constantly grubby. I think the shiney front and textured sides look a little strange, but only because of the position of my fridge which means the side is visible.

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

so far, it looks like a clever use of space - and designed by someone who actually cooks and buys food! Again I think this is something that will become more apparent when used in anger. I like the top left shelf with the hinge, and the divided shelf that slides into itself. I am of course looking for the potential for storing wine bottles.... The deli compartment is excellent.

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

Its about the same size but has completely different configuration inside. Specifics...its very quiet by comparison to the old one.

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

its not intuitive, and Ive yet to figure out the ice maker. I did Shock have to consult the manual.

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

Cold water - Yes! All of us loving that feature. Ice dispenser not yet operational.

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

Utility room. Fitted where the last one was, so easy to place. I would say, howeever, that the spec drawing with the door clearance would have been helpful from the beginning - mine is in a corner, and so while I can open the left door and can access everything, I cannot open it really wide...whether this will be a problem moving forwards, I cannot tell.

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

I thought it was utterly beautiful - sleek, shiny and not too dominant in the kitchen. The whole family was in awe of it. DD has been kissing it each morning and named it too. DP loves it, but isn't keen on the handles - he thinks handles should be recessed, rather than sticking out. I like the handles though.

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

The stainless steel is great. Only downside is the dark grey sides, which aren't very attractive. But we've covered the visible side in magnets and paperwork, so it looks better.

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

There's definitely enough space. Maybe an inbuilt wine rack type of device might be good. But it's brilliantly spacious, especially the freezer.

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

The new one is better in every way - there is absolutely no comparison between our old, leaky, frosted up fridge freezer and the lovely new one.

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

Very easy to use. I like it a lot.

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

We use it every day. All cold drinks have ice in them!

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

It's in the kitchen. It fitted fine as we were lucky to have a large space for it. Only issue is that the fridge door on the right can't open fully as it's next to a worktop, but it opens far enough to be able to pull the drawers/shelves in and out for cleaning it etc, so it's not a problem.

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

When I first saw it I was very impressed, it looks very sleak and solid, as if it will last for ever. I love to show it off to family and friends. My two teenage children love it and all of their friends have been keen to have a go at the chilled water and icemaker. My husband thinks it's great, he saysit's 'a man's fridge!', I think thats because of the sheer size. Although it's large I am pleased that it doesn't look 'industrial', although I would prefer the side panels to be the same as the front, I'm not too keen on the mottly gray panels. As I didn't pay for it doesn't bother me too much but would make me think twice if I was paying the rrp. For that price I would expect the whole thing to be shiney stainless steel

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I love the stainless steel finish, it looks very stylish and clean. I would prefer and expect the side panels to match if I was going to pay the rrp

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

The storage space in the fridge is brilliant, more than enough for what we would ever need. I love the adjustable shelving and storage solutions. My husband likes the bottle holders but we are not sure where to put bottles of wine as the holder seems to be designed to hold smaller bottles of beer for example. At first I was disappointed at the size of the freezer, I thought that it wouldn't fulfill our needs. However when we emptied the five drawers out of our old fridgefreezer and put the food into the Samsung it all fit in well with room to spare. We have since been shopping again and it;s still not full. I cannot however find the pizza holder, I have looked and looked! I love the pantry at the bottom of the fridge and the vegetable drawers are good. I would like more explantion in the booklet about how best to use the storage solutions and I'm still not sure whether I'm supposed to have the veg drawers on high or low humidity

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

The freezer space is very good, I thought we had less than before with our tradtional style fridgefreezer but I have been able to fit lots into it. It might become a bit of a pain having to take stuff out to get to things at the bottom of the drawer but it hasn;t bothered me so far. I like the way the freezer lights up, I have never seen that before and it does look very impressive

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

I think the LED panel is great, it looks impressive and after a few mistakes we soon worked out what to press to carry out the different functions. The booklet could be a bit clearer with the instructions

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

We all drink far more water than we used to, this may decrease after the novelty wears off. The water is chilled to just the correct temperature to drink. The ice cubes are not 'cubes' and the the crushed ice is more like 'broken' ice. This doesn't bother me but may have done if I had payed the rrp. The children love the icefunstion but it does leave a mess on the floor when they have used it because it does come out think and fast. I will have to teach the girls to mop up after themselves

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

We have it in out utility room, I would prefer it in out kitchen as it is so sleek and smart but because of all out fitted units we could not fit it in there. The utility room does look very swish now and everyone who comes to the house gets taken through to look at it but it would have more impact in our large kitchen. To fit it in the utility room we had to take one wall unit out and cut a section from the worktop, both of which my husband did himself before the fridge freezer was delivered

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

First impressions it looks lovely, much smarter than my old white one. The kids think it is great. However after three hours of incessant beeping ( i thought it was just coming up to temperature) we've discovered it's faulty! there is a fault in the door so no ice/water dispenser, no lights in the fridge and it constantly thinks the door is open when it is shut. Luckily I found the alarm off switch!

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I love the stainless steel finish and the fact that the sides are different doesn't really impact on final look.

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

Wine rack would be good but apart from that all great love the full width "deli" drawer

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

Once its working I think it will be better I much prefer the full width fridge to the side by side american style fridge freezer we used to have

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

Very easy to use with a great alarm switch off button!

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

At the moment can't comment as it doesn't work!

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

Its in the utility room looking fab and has replaced very old american fridge freezer so space no problem.

Additional feedback - afetsales service at sumsung is absolute pants! I rang with all correct reference numbers and they had no idea what I was talking about, will book a repair man to come can't tell me when. No apology, basically couldn't give a damn.

Can you tell I'm tired I was up at 6am this morning waiting the the delivery people to come and check the installation - which was all fine so no complaint with them (and it was my choice for the early appt so I didn't have to take more time off work) . So now I have to wait for someone to mabe call me back and try to arrange around work when they can come and repair it.

So disappointed it has the makings of a lovely fridge but the shine has definitely been taken off now.

1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?
It looks fabulous. I particularly like that it is a little shorter than a regular fridge freezer as I think this stops it looking like it has taken over the kitchen. I was also very taken with the LED lights in the fridge and the way they "fade up" when the door opens - spent several days doing that just for fun.
DH and DS both very much impressed by it, but not overwhelmed with love as I was! My Mum and niece are also smitten.
I did feel terribly sorry for the lovely delivery men who had to haul it up four flights of stairs. I was also hugely grateful to them as they had been informed that it was only a two-man job but had realised for themselves that it would take 3 to get it up the stairs. If they had followed the instructions from the despatcher and turned up with just two of them, they would have been unable to complete the delivery and I would have cried!

2. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?
Like it very much and find it easier to keep clean than previous fridge freezer, which was silver plastic. Agree that the different sides are a little odd and I may have thought twice about that if I'd been paying so much money.

3. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?
I really like the way the storage works in the fridge. The folding/sliding shelves in particular are a useful feature. It makes a huge difference to me that I can fit in the weekly shop with ease and subsequently be able to find everything that's in there. The real test will be at times like christmas when I have a house full.
Like DurhamDurham, I was a bit dubious about the freezer space to begin with, particularly that it would be hard to find things in one big draw. But once I had put in all the food from previous freezer, realised that it has more than enough space and actually is very easy to keep organised. The light in the freezer is really good.

4. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?
There's no comparison really. The Samsung has much more space, sleek exterior and some lovely gadgets

5. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?
Find the panel really easy to use and didn't even need to resort to reading the instructions.

6. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?
We all really like this feature and use it all the time. I am intensely grateful for the child lock, without it I think 3 year old DS would have flooded the kitchen by now.

7. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?
It's living in the kitchen, in the space vacated by old appliance. It did necessitate a little shifting around to fit it in but nothing extreme.

My only negative comment would be on the instruction manual. It is really unclear and this is the view of myself, my DH and the plumber who came to fit the water supply.

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

Love Grin I was struck by the size of the storage space inside compared to the outside. Yes it is big but it seems bigger inside than I would have initially expected. The styling is beautiful and modern (although it doesn't really fit in with my very run down, deperately in need of renovation, kitchen.

DH is very impressed and has forgiven my hours of MNetting Smile I am slightly dissapointed with the lack of a wine rack, although it really doesn't matter at the moment as I am pregnant and can't drink and DH is more of a beer drinker. I am also not sure that the configuration of door storage in the left is ideal, although I do not yet know how I would improve that

The best feature is the configuration of the fridge at the top and freezer at the bottom in contrast to the usual side-by-side configuration

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I like the stainless steel finish, although it is very modern looking and doesn't really fit in with my 1920's home. A choice of enamel finishes would be nice

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

I find that the storage space is brilliantly arranged. I'm not sure that I am 'sold' on the sliding shelves yet but love the fact that the fridge is all above waist level as it means that I am finally using the fridge to it's full potential. The freezer is a good size and the fact that it has the deep drawer makes it very useful for my purposes. I would most definitely add a wine rack and am not sure about the pizza pocket.

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

It is miles better. I found that in my old fridge (tall thin one) I neglected the bottom two drawers as they were just too low to reach, and when I did use them would tend to forget about the food in them. The lighting of both the fridge and freezer is really useful

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not? I like it, but would prefer it if I could see the temperature in the fridge and freezer more often. Perhaps for a few seconds after opening?

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

Have made it so much a part of my life that when visiting my MIL the other day, was quite put out in having to get ice out of the ice-tray in the freezer Grin

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

It is in my kitchen, where my old fridge lived. We found it very easy to find space and install, although if our kitchen weren't as knackered we may have had more difficulty plumbing it in.

  1. first impressions - sleek, beautiful, futuristic, solid, - all at first glimpse

The quality is amazing, the doors heavy yet easy to use,
the drawers all open smoothly, the water/ice tap looks strong and is well designed all to come out of the same tap,
it holds A LOT of food both in the fridge and the freezer compartments, and the design is great as you can easily see everything. love all of the little shelves especially on the inside of the left hand door (behind the water tap)
husband was impressed how easily it plumbed in and how easily all the filter was set up, and how the options for the temperatures were quite specific so there was no room to set an inappropriate temperature in error; he loved the gleam of the steel doors and the blue lit up console, and the strength of the handles, they look very hard wearing. the kids loved it. many family members have been to visit it too, they are all impressed, love the fridge within the fridge pantry section, and the amount of space. everyone has noticed there is no wine rack though - ive just had my wine sideways in the pantry but would be easier to have a rack.
best - I like the look of it and the led panel
least - I wish the panel on the front was flat as the buttons that stick forwards- ice and water buttons - bash into a little wall we have at the side of the fridge, so we have to be very careful when opening the left door.
the insides of this one are much more modern and prestigious; and the lights are 100 times better. the new one makes the older one look quite square edged and even old fashioned. the curves and overall sleekness are literally breathtaking.

  1. the LED panel is very easy to use, very simple, and has the right amount of features, love the nighttime tap light; the choice of ice; the limited choice of appropriate temperatures as I mentioned earlier.

just wish the buttons were all flat for ease of fit in our specific kitchen, but do love the look of the curved lines. LOVE the blue lights, more prestigious and impactful than the old green lights; somehow!

  1. we use the water all the time, and kids love ice as a treat if theyve been good Wink it makes plain water seem very luxurious. need a tonic tap for gin drinks next.....

  1. it lives in our kitchen, in an allotted slot that when we had our kitchen rebuilt/extended after moving in; we knew we were going to have an American fridge in. the wall to the left of it comes out a little far for the sticking out water/ice buttons but it is fine. it looks very swish in its new home!!

thank you to Samsung and Mumsnet for this fabulous product test, we are loving our new disco G-Unit fridge Grin

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

First impressions were excellent. The size of the fridge was the biggest initial 'wow' factor. DH was also very impressed, and the kids were particularly excited about the idea of ice cubes on tap. We had some initial problems setting up the fridge, as the floor on which it sits is uneven, and we struggled to release the adjustable legs at the front of the fridge. In the end, we had to tip the fridge backwards in order to get enough grip on the dial to be able to turn it. We were also unsure whether we needed to get the fridge level from front to back, but as there was no means of adjusting the back we have left it with a slight backwards lean.

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I'm very happy with the stainless steel finish; it seems practical and also attractive.

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

We have got stacks of space in the fridge at the moment. I particularly like the sliding shelf on the right hand side, and have slid this back to accommodate our spare milk containers standing upright. The children are pleased with the can holder, and have got cans in there ahead of Daddy's beer! I like the fruit and veg drawers although I am unclear what I am meant to do with the humidity control - I couldn't see any reference in the instructions to which fruit or veg would be best held at different humidities. I am also curious about the pizza pocket that is referred to in the instructions; however, the pocket in the freezer is certainly not big enough to take a pizza.

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

Our old fridge was on its last legs, and hasn't been keeping things cold enough for a while. The most noticable thing for me is that the milk from the new fridge is truly COLD! Also some chicken that I kept in there and used on its use by date still felt very fresh. The freezer is smaller than the one we used previously, which we knew from the description. This does means that well probably keep a second freezer for the time being at least. DH is not so keen on the drawer arrangement, feeling that it will be harder to access things at the bottom. On the other hand, I grew up with chest freezers so am more comfortable with the drawer arrangement. My expectation is that the drawer will be more effective at keeping the cold in than our upright freezer.

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

Initially I was surprised that the temperatures would disappear, and wondered if something was wrong. However, it appears that others are the same so I am used to it now. I find it intuitive to use. My 8yo son showed me how the child lock worked, so I guess it is aimed at rather younger children than him!

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

We got the plumbing completed five days after the fridge was installed. My sons have enjoyed the ice cubes, and have been having these (sometimes on their own!) regularly. I still haven't got used to it being there, and continue to get water from the sink, but I expect that will change over time. Initially the water tasted a bit plasticky, so ongoing usage will depend on how that changes over time.

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

The fridge is in our utility room. It fits in the room easily, although getting it in through a couple of tight gaps was more tricky, and easily forgotten when saying that we definitely had space. However, the delivery team did an excellent job. We have rearranged the space in order to fit the fridge in - putting the tumble drier on top of the washing machine, and removing a wall cupboard. It wouldn't have been possible to fit in our kitchen due to the fitted units.

A further point on Q2 re the finish: On one of the side panels, some of the paint has come away slightly, like when you pull Sellotape from something. This is right along the bottom, about 1.5cm all the way along. It's not particularly problematic, particularly as that side of the fridge is hidden from view, but may have been of greater concern if I had planned to have that side of the fridge on permanent view.

And, one other thought re Q7 re size: the one thing that did take me by surprise was the amount of space needed on either side of the fridge to allow the doors to fully open (and therefore access the drawer compartments). We are slightly compromised for space on one side, and so it is awkward to fully open the drawers. I'm not sure if that information was available on line - certainly I missed it if it was, and was only aware from the instruction manual.

1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?
It's MASSIVE. That's not going to fit. Yes it is. No it's not. Yes it is. It's got so much space inside. Second LemonEmma's point about the space needed to fully open the doors. I don't like silver, but what we liked best about it was that it was FREE.

2. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

Not keen on silver, would have preferred black. If I were buying it. As it is, I'm very grateful Grin

3. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

It will take me weeks to fill it- but have noticed that it could do with a specific wine storage space. DP LOVES the can holder. This answer is not making us look good.

4. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

It is about five times the size of it- for better and worse.

5. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?
Yes, looks very easy to use; have not done much with it yet though.

6. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?
It's not plumbed in yet, but cannot wait as I will use it a lot.

7. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

In the kitchen- just fits, but I found it difficult.

1.when delivered was in awe. its huge and shiny and very posh. children loved the noises it made and the lights. husband thought it was a good size. only down side was took a while to take off fiddely packaging round rim of doors and seals.

  1. finish is nice. makes my kitchen seem lighter somehow. must be cause of the reflective finish.

  1. more than enough space for a family of our. i like moving things about to see how best to fit it all in. i've now got a special bit to hide my chocolate and a place for kids antibiotics that have to be kept refridgerated. the freezer looked small when we were transferring stuff from our old one but we've only filled up one drawer and completely filled up the little drawer with ice lollies. that is so handy.

  1. old fridge freezer was basic and worked ok. but was very tall and i'm not and i couldn't reach the back of the top shelf without help or a step. i'm 5ft 3in. this is much better for me as i can see and reach everything. i like the settings for humidy as my fruit used to go off quickly in the old fridge but that hasn't been a issue with the new one.

  1. the LED display is very pretty and nice to look at but i haven't used it much as i'm waiting for tech geek husband to tell me what to do so i don't get blamed for breaking it. its at a good height as my kids can't reach it and my 2 year old would never leave it alone if he could reach it.

  1. we're not plumbed in yet as waiting for a 'y' connector to be bought to join onto our cold water supply. i buy lots of bottle water so when this is connected i hope i will no longer have to.

  1. it lives happily in the kitchen but will be moved soon as we're planning to do our kitchen. but the plan is to move it to beside the window. when being delivered only had to remove handles to fit it in and they were put on in minutes. all told we love our new fridge and thank you all so much. i feel so posh.

First impressions were that it was absolutely gorgeous! I rang DH and even sent him photos by text message to show him how wonderful it was. He ended up coming home from work early just to see it Grin. DD thought it was 'huge' and we all loved the shinyness of it. The plastic which it was delivered in was a nightmare to get off from around the handles etc which was a bit of a pain. All in all though, amazing first impressions!

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I think the stainless steel finish is brilliant. Very shiny and looks very expensive! Easy to keep clean too. I agree with other testers though, not as impressed with the sides (although you cant really see them from where it lives).

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

I love how the shelves fold up and down and slide in and out in order to fit larger bottles etc in. The freezer is also very spacious. Quite deceiving really from looking at it when its closed. It's like a tardis! Also love the can holder in the door, I think a wine rack would be a good addition. One thing which I would prefer set up differently is the pantry draw on the very bottom of the fridge. You cant open it without opening both fridge doors. I'd prefer it to be split into 2 so that it could be opened with just one door open IYSWIM

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

It's about 40 times bigger! Old one didnt have nearly as much storage space, didnt have the ice/water dispenser and didnt have lovely disco lights in! Overall it's infinitely better than my old one.

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

I love the display panel. Very easy to use (didnt need to read the instructions!), I only wish the temperature would stay lit when you press the fridge/freezer buttons. The temp only stays on for a few seconds but I love the display so much, I'd like it to stay on permanently! Or at least have the option to leave it on.

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

We use the cold water on a daily basis. It doesn't come out very quick but then I wasnt expecting it to, DD drinks cordial and now always uses the fridge for water instead of the tap! At first I had problems with the crushed ice going all over the floor as well as in the glass. Soon rectified this though with a bigger glass and holding the glass further up. Love the cubed ice though, and because the cubes are quite big, I find I only now need a couple in my vodka and lemonade, rather than half a glass full of the icecubes i used to use which you had to push out of a rubber tray one by one! Much easier with the ice dispenser.

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

It is living in the kitchen. Space was easy as the previous owners had also had a huge fridge in there so the fitted kitchen had been fitted around it. Now, instead of having huge spaces either side of my fridge/freezer, I finally have one that fits!

Am doing mine before I read everyone else's so I don't copy!

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

My first impression was that it was a lot smaller, more compact and less imposing than I'd imagined it might be. My DH was out when it was delivered and he had been fretting about it - and he had a big grin on his face when he walked through the door and saw it. 3 year old DS liked being able to help himself to ice pops from the freezer. I enjoyed playing with the lights and the tinkly little sounds it made Blush I was also really impressed with the way you could set the temperatures and enjoyed watching them go down when it was switched on - in mega fast time too.

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I like the finish - it needs wiping every day though, gets handprints from DS on it every day but they come off fairly easily.

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

The storage space is great and more than adequate for our needs. The only bit I'm not so bothered about is the can holder - we tend to drink bottled beers and cider, or wine, so something that could hold those would have been more useful.

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

The old one was only 1 1/2 years old and I wasn't convinced the freezer part was working properly so obviously having a freezer that actually freezes is a big bonus! What's great is that this one is slightly less tall, so being a shorty I can reach everything. I also love the lighting in the freezer, which we didn't have before. There is nothing that is worse.

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

I like it,I like the colours and the sounds, and yes it's easy to use.

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

We're having it plumbed in next week so we haven't used that bit yet - and we're absolutely dying to!

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

We had to take a cupboard of the wall and it goes where that used to be. It was easy to do - it's just the plumbing that's been a bit more complicated - we live in an old victorian terrace so it just needed some extra pipe to be bought. Unexpectedly, it now makes the kitchen look bigger because of the way we have rearranged things.

1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

That it was so big, shiny & new looking Grin, DP was very excited, I sent photo's to my friends Blush SIL has a similar fridge but this is so much more spacious. I didn't like peeling off all the plastic as I'm lazy.... and I was scared I'd break it

2. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

Love the stainless steel finish, but not so keep on the motled grey sides, they remind me of an airtex ceiling. I think an enamel white would have looked good in my kitchen but I like stainless steel.

3. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

Storage space is brilliant, very well designed. Although we don't drink can's either, bottled beer or wine here. So I would of prefered a wine rack. We are using the deli part for cheeses and meats, and I love the fruit and Veg compartments. Still not sure where the pizza pocket is Confused.
I think the instruction booklet should have given ideas for what goes where.
Freezer is huge, I thought it looked small but it fits so much in it. The top freezer drawer keeps getting stuck though.

4. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

We inherited our fridge/freezer from the previous owner of our house 6 years ago and it was on it's last legs, water in the fridge and the freezer icing up. So this came at the perfect time. Having filtered water & ice on tap is the best thing, living in London the tap water is horrible hard water, so this will save me money on buying bottled water & time filling ice cube trays.

5. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

Very easy to use, love the lights inside and out, closest I'm getting to a disco for the time being Smile

6. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

As above this is brilliant, after the sheer size of the fridge, this is my favourite thing.

7. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

We have placed it where our old fridge was and planned to move the free standing dresser along but this would of meant taking down a shelf. We have now moved the whole kitchen around, breakfast table, dresser, bins, laundry and the space actually works so much better and looks even bigger.

Thank you so much Mumsnet & Samsung Grin

1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

My first thought was ?Wow...this is one huge fridge and how the hell will it fit in my kitchen?!? In fact the delivery men had to remove my kitchen door and the fridge doors to fit it into the kitchen. Once assembled and set up I was extremely pleased with it. It was very impressive ? modern, clean and well designed with plenty of storage space. Although it was large, it wasn?t bulky and looks sleek and sophisticated. My DH was also very impressed and proceeded to load the can section with beers! The kids were fascinated with the ice maker and water dispenser. The ice does shoot out quite forcefully though ? you need to be careful with that. The handles are all very sturdy and solid. I really liked the LED lights too which looked very attractive. I have been told it makes the fridge look like a ?time machine or a tardis? by my DS!

2. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I loved the stainless steel front but didn?t like the dull grey sides. I would have liked it to be all stainless steel, just to give it that consistent, matching appearance. It is very easy to clean and looks very modern.

3. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

I absolutely love the masses of storage space. The sliding shelves are also proving to be extremely useful with large cartons of juice and milk. The freezer space is also deceptively large. I wondered how I would get all my food it in at first, but it all fitted in with no problems. I think the deli compartment is a fantastic idea. I keep all the children?s yoghurts and cheese and ham in it. It also means you are more organised and can find things a lot more easily. Items don?t get ?lost? at the back of the fridge.
I would love to have a section for eggs (although many say that you shouldn?t keep eggs in the fridge, I prefer too). A wine rack would also be very useful and more compartments for cans.

4. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

It is 20 times better! The space is magnificent! Also being a shortie (5ft2?), I would struggle to reach things from the back of the top shelf. Now I have absolutely no problems. The ergonomics of the fridge are excellent. It has been very well thought out and the layout is spot-on. The shape of our old fridge was awful, tall and thin and the Samsung is near enough perfect.

5. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

It is extremely easy to work out and very self-explanatory. I didn?t even look at the instructions. Even the kids worked it out themselves.

6. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

It is fantastic, we use it everyday and it is a godsend on a hot day. Having cool filtered water on tap is amazing and the ice dispenser is in constant use. I love using the crushed ice in mojitos!!!

7. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

It is in our kitchen exactly where the old one used to be. We had to shift a few of the kitchen cabinets up to accommodate it, but that was pretty easily done.

Other comments

Overall I am extremely happy with the Samsung Fridge-freezer. I have had lots of admiring comments from visitors to my home: plenty of ?oohs? and ?ahhhs?. It is a very generous size for a family of four with lots of space to spare. It accommodates all our food extremely well and the whole family loves it!

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

First impressions were that it?s huge (in all dimensions) and shiny. It?s very stylish, looks much smarter than our old appliances. Looks much more like an expensive designed gadget than a regular fridge-freezer. Need to have the kitchen refitted to fit the new beast!

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I like stainless steel, I think it?s functional, doesn?t date quickly and much nicer look than our old white plastic finishes. Slightly concerned about finger prints showing but at the moment I don't mind caressing it with a cloth. The sides don't really match, get the feeling it's designed to be built around.

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

Fridge storage is phenomenal. I love the idea of the deli shelf ? I think it?ll be really handy at party times/Christmas. I like the fact it?s quite configurable ? so we can arrange higher lower shelves to suit our needs. Freezer I?m less impressed with. I can?t get used to the drawer arrangement, I think it?s going to be harder to find the items I want than in the old under counter one with conventional door and three sections inside. Ungrateful though it sounds, if I?d been paying, I think I?d have wanted to find one with more even balance between fridge and freezer capacity. I?m still going to need to keep my spare freezer in the garage for overspill. It does feel awful saying anything negative about such an amazing prize but I'm trying to imagine how I'd feel if I chose this model and bought it myself!

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

I had separate fridge and freezer before, fridge is larger freezer I think is smaller and definitely harder to organise/get at things. I think I will miss my old wine rack in fridge though. It was often full of milk and juices rather than wine, but really handy and good use of space to have them laying down. The can holders are no good to us as we don't drink cans often and I haven't yet found something the right size to fill the gap!

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

I like the LED display, no problems using it. I like digital read outs ? no error. I found it quite easy to use.

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

Is this question serious? We all love it, who wouldn't? The weather?s been perfect to need to test it out! My DCs are obsessed with ice makers when we stay in hotels and they just can?t believe that we?ve got one at home now. They?re much happier to drink plain water too. As some have said you have to be ready with the right vessel to catch the ice or it can spill but it?s not a big issue.

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

It?s in space our old fridge and freezer were in. Wasn?t too difficult to find space but we had to take a cupboard and small amount of worktop down. We did have to mess about a bit to hide the plumbing (it?s across a doorway from the washing machine) but as our kitchen desperately needs doing up we didn't mind. I had measured properly and was confident that it would feel bigger but would fit and it really is huge. Surprising that it sticks out so much further than our old under counter freezer used to.

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why? Love it. It looks substantial and luxurious, without being a total behemoth and taking over the kitchen. In fact, the kitchen looks mysteriously larger with the fridge in it, which I haven't quite got my head around. Also love the layout inside and the sense of Narnia-like expanses of shelving ... I can't imagine we will ever lose anything in it or run out of room as everything is nicely spaced out. DP is delighted and keeps saying "I would never have imagined we would have a fridge like this". DS has told everyone at nursery, and most people in the shops we've been to recently, and also a taxi driver, about the new big silver fridge at his house.

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer? I like it much more than I expected to. I thought it might seem cold (no pun intended) and industrial but in fact it's nice and clean-looking. Agree with other testers that the sides are less lovely, but I'm not really bothered by that (even though you can see the sides in our layout).

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it? Too early to say much about this; I will have more to say after longer use. So far it's just all positive amazement at the amount of space we now have.

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse? Every single thing about it is better. Our old one was dreadful. It was an under-counter model, the narrowest on the market (in order to fit into a specific niche in the kitchen), it gurgled and it didn't keep the temp steady and everything used to freeze to the back. I hated it, but even so, I don't think I fully appreciated how much easier life would be without having to constantly bend down from the waist and root around and take stuff out and spread it all across the floor to find the one thing the kids wanted right at the back ... it seems incredible, now that we have this fridge, that we put up with the old one for so long. It's only been switched on for 48 hours and plumbed in since this afternoon, but I honestly think it is making life noticeably easier already. It just feels so nice to just walk over to the fridge, open it and take something out without all that faffing around and heart-sinking sensation I used to feel when fighting with the old one.

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not? It's fine, but not perhaps as intuitive as it could theoretically be - I have managed to use it without a problem but I am aware of mild background puzzlement about which button does what and am proceeding on a trial-and-error basis. Instruction booklet has all the answers, of course, but I can imagine that some customers might be put off if they can't see straight away, in seconds, exactly what each light and button is all about.

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not? Yes, using it lots, LOVE it. Haven't tried crushed ice yet though. It only got plumbed in today so haven't had a chance.

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to? In our big kitchen/dining room. It is actually in the dining room half of the space, but as we use the whole room in a fairly informal and fluid manner, it's fine. It was really the only option for us, unless we'd done a lot of rearranging of appliances. It works really well though - surprisingly unobtrusive.

Oh, I forgot something in the "first impressions" bit! The delivery men, when they peeled the protective plastic film off the doors, had a hard time getting the bits round the edges to come away because the film had been put on before the edges were sealed, so it is caught underneath.

It will eventually come away, I think (hope) but the very small amount of plastic film that's still stuck under the seal edges is a tiny bit raggedy-looking and slightly irritating. If I had purchased the fridge, I'd probably find it mildly annoying.

1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?
First impressions were that I'd measured wrongly! But no, it fits in the space we'd created perfectly. For such a big beast, it doesn't dominate the kitchen though - I think it's because it's not too tall. I love its solidity and sleekness, and having the display panel on the front. The space inside is brilliant.
DP likes it because it is a techno-fridge with lots of bits to play with, to him it's more gadget that kitchen appliance. We both like that all the gubbins at the back are enclosed rather than having various bits of cooling pipework exposed.
My mum is v. jealous, and lots of friends also oohing and ahhing - mostly at the blue lights and ice maker, and erm, just the scale of it. NB: Am in Somerset - this is a Big Event Grin.
There's nothing I don't like at the moment!

2. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?
Our old fridge freezer was white, I much prefer the stainless steel. I was concerned that I would be permanently running round with an e-cloth to wipe the doors but it seems remarkably fingerprint-resistant at the mo. (I'm still trying to get bits of the protective plastic off though). For alternatives I'd think gloss white/gloss cream would also work well. I actually like the greeny/grey colour of the side panels (think it would be a good subtle colour for the whole fridge, though perhaps without the elephant-hide texture!), though if I had a high-tec kitchen where everything was stainless steel I may have wanted the front and sides to match.

3. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?
The space in the fridge is fantastic. I love everything. I can reach all the shelves and I don't have to lift things out to reach the back or stack stuff on top of other stuff. There seems to be good adjustable storage in the doors, I think this is something I'll be able to comment on more sensibly in the thread in a couple of months time when it's been used for longer.
We cook from scratch a lot so tend to make big pots of mousakka etc. but there is (hurrah!) now plenty of room to store both ingredients and leftovers.

We had initial concerns that it would be hard to find things in the freezer but no issues so far. I think that the 'essentially a chest freezer but in two drawers' is going to work. My only 'hmm' is working out how I am going to flash freeze fruit/veg - I usally put them in a single layer on a tray, which will now have to be balanced on top of the contents of one of the two drawers - not a biggie and I'm sure it'll work.
DP loves the ice-lolly pocket in the freezer - we don't eat lollies so he is using it to store frozen herbs and filo/brik pastry that could otherwise get lost or damaged in the main freezer.

4. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?
It's 100 times better in every way. I was convinced our old fridge was not keeping the temp. cool enough and it only had a control with 1-6 on it - no indication of whether 1 was cooler or hotter! So the LED display is fantastic, I have complete confidence that food is at the right temp. I also like the different zones in the fridge for fruit/veg, and as we are cheese fiends the pantry section is FAB. I also think this will come in useful for prepared party/BBQ food.
Although it's not been used yet, I love the idea of a door alarm - there are several occasions where we had spoiled food because the doors weren't shut properly.
Downsides - nothing I have found yet, apart from lack of egg tray (why ARE we conditioned to expect an egg tray?!).

5. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?
As above, I love knowing the temperature exactly and being able to control it to within a degree. I love the lighting and the noises (small child that I am!) DP would like it to make more noise (perhaps when dispensing water/ice) but this is obviously just a novelty thing and he'd probably get fed up after a while!
We have both found it easy to use, the instructions were adequate.

6. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?
Yes, it's great. We are all drinking more water. DP used to fill the old fridge with bottles of water but now he can come straight in from a run and it's on tap. I've had 2 pints of iced water already today and it's only 8am. We also have lots of friends offering to come round to exploit the possibility of iced cocktails...

7. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?
It's in our kitchen - which is not huge, but as I said before, it doesn't dominate it. We had to move a couple of units to fit it in in a sensible place near the water supply but this was not too complex (and the arrival date actually acted as a catalyst to do loads of stuff we had been putting off Blush).

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

It looked much bigger initially than I thought it would be. I liked the stainless steel. I was pleased the doors came off ?otherwise it wouldn?t have fitted into my house. I did not like it once the handles went on- they are too big. Once assembled I thought it looked very modern, apart from the handles , I think it is well designed, lovely finish and good overall quality.

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I really liked the stainless steel finish although it does mark easily and needs frequent wiping.
I don?t mind the finish on the sides as mine are not really visible. I live in a hard water area so I wonder if the lime scale will leave marks on the dispenser after time ? if so this will be very visible and unsightly and not someplace where I would feel comfortable using strong detergent to remove ? will wait to see !

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

Yes ? space is wonderful - especially the veg/salad sections. These in conjunction with the Deli section are the best features of the fridge.
I would have preferred a wine rack to the can holder thing.
Overall the flexibility of the shelving is great. The containers seem nice and solid - previously I have had very flimsy ones that cracked and broke in a very short time.

As for the freezer, I have always wanted a chest freezer but don?t have room so this is the best compromise I could hope to have. I really love this, it is going to be great as I get it filled up ( large cuts of meat) and top shelf filled with the output from my batch cooking sessions for defrost- able home-made dinners during the week ? the size and design are perfect for my needs.

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

It is better in almost every way ? it is a lot quieter. I love the water/ice dispenser as do my children who are now drinking loads of water. Although I wish the ice delivery was a little more predictable we tend to end up with quite a lot on the floor!
The interior (shelves/compartments) are much better in terms of design and quality but as it is a much more expensive freezer this is only to be expected.
The space is incredible. The freezer is wider and has much more space.

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

Yes ? I do now although it took a few attempts to get it right. I am hoping the filter light will show me when the filter is not working/ needs attention ? if so this is a great advantage of this freezer ?having seen the insides of some old and overused filters, to be alerted to when it needs replacing would be a fantastic addition to the appliance. Not sure yet if it will do this though.

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

As stated above ? we love this! My entire family are refilling and drinking iced water throughout the day. They have filled water bottles to take with them on hikes/cycle rides because they like the fact that it is chilled.

I do wish the delivery of ice was a little easier ?maybe we just need to get used to it but we do end up with a few spillages and my husband did almost get a water jug stuck under the dispenser ? I have now taken it away to avoid further mishaps!

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

Easy to find a space. It is in my kitchen. I would have liked information on clearance for doors up front ?this may pose a problem for future customers ? I would not have been happy with the reorganization I had to do had I bought this appliance.
Still unsure how much space I need to leave behind and to either side of the fridge/freezer - I am not sure if I have done this wrong.

Other comments

I do not like the handles they are too obvious, they protrude too much into the space. However, an elderly visitor did mention how he would not be able to use recessed handles (arthritis) and so he really liked them. I personally would like them to be less obvious.
The opening closing of doors/freezer drawer is very smooth and despite the size they are surprisingly light ? very nice.
Lighting inside is well positioned and seems to be located such that is isn?t obscured by contents ? this was very much the case with my last F/F.
The instruction booklet was the major let down ? I had expected a much more up-market book to go with such an expensive freezer. It does not seem to accurately reflect the model and the instruction language is a bit vague and hard to follow ?I think this could be improved upon significantly ? it seems out of alignment with the quality of the product itself.

  1. What were your first impressions of the fridge freezer? What did your DP/DCs think? What did you like best about it? What didn't you like, and why?

First impressions were ?My goodness that?s big?. I?d read the dimensions, but hadn?t really worked out what it would look like when installed into the kitchen. The children weren?t fussed, but DH has kept touching it. I think he likes how ?technological? it looks.

  1. What do you think of the stainless steel finish? Do you prefer it to other finishes or is there a different finish you'd prefer?

I like the finish. Especially the contrasting door handles as it makes it look very clean and professional. It would be interesting if it came in different colours ? excluding white. I don?t think white would suit a monster of that size somehow. I?m not so keen on the side coverings, but they?re not offensive, just not as nice as the front.

  1. How are you finding the storage space available in the fridge and freezer? Are there any compartments/shelf arrangements you really like? Or any you'd prefer to be set up differently? Is there enough space to fit everything you want in it?

I find the bottom drawer that fills the whole width a bit awkward to use as you have to open both doors up pretty wide to get to it, which is a pain. The rest is fantastic. I love the deep door pockets and there is plenty of room to fit everything and a bit more in.

I was disappointed not to be able to find the tilting pizza pocket ? any ideas where the heck that is?? Also the missing wine rack was a huge disappointment. To be honest the only reason why I was disappointed by them not being there was because it said on the website and instruction booklet that there should have been one.

  1. How does the fridge freezer compare with your old one? Is there anything specific that's better or worse?

Comparing this fridge freezer to our old one is like comparing a Philharmonic Orchestra to a busker. They both keep things cold, but the Samsung is a symphony with full orchestra and chorus and my old freezer was some bloke with knee cymbals and a harmonica. The space is just amazing.
The old fridge had space for one 4-pinter and one juice carton in the door shelf. This has room for 4 4-pinters, and 4 juices plus a lot of other space as well. I?ve not had to lie anything on its side in the bottom of the fridge as there?s no room in the doors yet. Result!
The old one is still tucked to the side and it looks so basic in comparison, it?s almost embarrassing.

  1. What do you think of the LED display panel? Do you find it easy to use or not?

I liked the LED light display and also the funky noises it makes when you are turning options on and off. Reminds me of an old console game I used to play.

  1. And how about the cold water/ice dispenser - are you using it much? Does your family like having it or not?

We love the ice dispenser although haven?t quite got the hang of using the crushed ice option without it spilling all over the floor. I also got caught out when I tried to get cubes after DH had got crushed as I ended up with a mix. The Child Lock option is an absolute must, as we found out after DS (5) decided to give it a go as he likes eating ice cubes.

  1. Where is the fridge freezer living in your home? Did you find it easy or difficult to find a space for it to fit in to?

We have a big open plan kitchen / diner and it?s situated in the kitchen part. It goes slightly over the patio doors, which isn?t great, but if we get the kitchen remodelled in the future, we can put it somewhere else then. Something this size needs both a space that?s wide enough, but also has enough space in front of it to be able to open it. We?ve had to move the kitchen island to be able to open it properly and will need to get rid of the island completely if we want to be able to easily open the bottom drawer in the fridge section. The Freezer we have to open from the side.

Other thoughts

The only negative feedback I can really give is about the manual that comes with the Fridge Freezer. Both my DH and I felt that such a wonderful machine deserved a much better and much clearer manual. Something glossy, with better illustrations would have been wonderful. A large picture of the machine with arrows pointing to all its various parts would have been great as we wouldn?t have had to spend so much time working out what everything was.

The illustration for the tilting pizza pocket was useless. It just looked like a corner of a door and it wasn?t on the main picture.

The lack of Wine Rack and the tilting pocket was annoying and if I had bought this fridge freezer myself, you would have had me on the phone complaining.

The tilting pocket in the freezer is too small to be of any use for anything other than icepops. It seems mad to have something so pointless in a fridge freezer, which is obviously top of the range.

Don?t get me wrong, I love it and it is the best appliance I have ever been fortunate to own. It?s just that my expectations of something ?top of the range? are higher and those few things above let it down.

Can I just pop my head back in and say that I agree what what all the others have said about the manual being a bit rubbish. I thought we'd get something glossy and swanky to go with it. As it was free and I am incredibly grateful it doesn't matter at all, but I think if I'd paid for it I'd be a bit Hmm.
