To throw water over a pigeon I've just spray painted?

Stay with me.

Just started to spray paint a fence panel, must have startled poor pidge behind fence as it flapped up maniacally. I had a bit of a scream...whilst holding spray trigger.

Pidge is now half 'oak brown', sitting in tree. Can't quite tell if he's ok, not giving much away with facial expression.

Have googled "accidentally painted a pigeon" with disappointingly unresourceful results.

So, should i just chuck water at it & hope it comes off?? Turps would seem a little extreme.

YANBU for one of best thread names I've ever read

YABU for potentially traumatising and toxifying an innocent bird

What sort of paint was it? If oil-based, water won't improve things.

If anyone saw you spray paint the poor bird, I think chucking a load of water over it isn't going to endear you to them Grin

Cross your fingers for rain?

I would maybe phone the rspb and ask their advice. Terrible to laugh, but this made me chuckle.

Oh poor poor birdy. Yes, ring the RSPB.

It was an accident! I've also got some on neighbours lovely acer, going to have to knock and fess up. Pigeon's getting the blame though.

Nor sure. Might be best before it gets its beak stuck in.
That said, do you think you'd stand a chance?

I don't think the pigeon is going to be your biggest fan..if it can't fly, catch it and wash it, if it can then don't worry!

Just read tin - says "wax enriched and water repellant." That's not good is it.

If you can grab it I'd take it to a local vet. Feel free not to fess up. They will hopefully be able to clean it up.

That bird will be terribly grateful - he will stay naice and warm and dry in this horrible weather we are having.

You did it a favour. Maybe start up a bird spraying service???

You have done Paul a favour, he can now sit on any oak brown fence and not be seen by puddycats!

Report
threeineachlobe · 04/05/2012 14:34

Well he made it to tree ok, didnt notice whether there was restricted flapping. He's still there. Blimey I feel guilty, might pass him a worm or his own special fat ball or something.
