MNHQ - How can we make our campaign an official Mumsnet Campaign?

Hello mumsnet!

A group of us have started a campaign called "Let Toys be Toys - for Girls and Boys".

We're asking retailers to stop limiting children's imaginations and interests by promoting some toys as only suitable for girls, and others only for boys.

The campaign's got off to a great start, the Facebook page only launched a couple of days ago, and already it's got 265 likes. People seem to be really into the idea and we've got high hopes we can actually make a difference. We're encouraged to see some retailers are heading in the right direction already - last year Hamley's for example changed its categorisation of toys from gender to theme.

It's a genuine grass-roots campaign, we're making decisions collaboratively, mostly right here, by mumsnet thread (thanks!) and it's working really well!

We'd like to invite you to come over to our campaign thread as we'd like to know - if we wanted to become a proper mumsnet campaign, how would we go about it, and what would it mean in practical terms for you and us? And, is this a campaign you'd support?

So, anyone there up for a chat with us? (We're really nice, honest! Grin )

You need to get on twitter and start a petition with someone like Change.org. Maybe start a blog with examples of sexist toys/ads and get people to submit ones they see. Sounds like a good campaign Smile

Great idea, I'm on the face book page and signed the petition.

Do you know about the Pink Stinks campaign? www.pinkstinks.co.uk/ Sorry, not read your other thread, but sounds similar to Pink Stinks.
