Clothing sizes that are correct

Why is it that my daughter who is 17 months old, but on the 98%ile for height, has only just grown into 12-18 month trousers but is wearing 18-24 month tops? This was the same with her older sister. I have had to reassure other new mums that clothing sizes are all to pot and not to worry - their children are not strangely proportioned.
When will the clothing industry wake up and make clothes the right size? Babies and young toddlers have proportionately short legs and long bodies.
Can we do something about this?

i agree, we have the same issue with dd and i had thought it was her, not the clothes!

i would love that they would revisit the sizing for trousers, it drives me nuts we have her in wildly varying sizes from the same store for top and bottom.

OK, this is now ridiculous. DD2 is now just 18 months and I have had to get out DD1's 2-3 year old tops. However the 12-18 month trousers just fit nicely! Why can't the clothing industry work out clothing sizes for babies / young children?

DS3 is 2 and wears 12-18 month trousers for the waistband, the length is just a touch too short.

DS1 needs much bigger sizes for the length then I have to cut great triangles out of the sides and take the waists in. If I buy the adjustables and gather them in 'til they fit him he looks like a clown. Hmm

No not really, Unfortunately its just not that simple, Kids come in all sorts of sizes & shapes at any particular age, therefore there are always going to be some that won't fir the clothes aimed at their particular age group....you change it to suit your own DCs, & someone elses DCs ends up not fitting the clothing aimed at their age range

Same as with Adult clothing, you just need to find which companies clothing, fits your DCs the best & stick with them, though you might well find your DCs change anyway.....mine certainly did

Personally though, companies such as H&M who go more by height than actual age are better, but the age tag allows friends & relatives to be able to buy gifts without knowing exact size, not accurate, but gets them sales, which is at the end of the what they are in business for

My DD was the same as yours, so I do understand where you are coming from though
