Virgin Atlantic

Hi,

My eight year old daughter was left frightend and traumatised after seeing a film being shown on another passangers screen, during a flight with Virgin Atlantic.

The scenes she saw involved a naked woman handcuffed to a bed, with a ball gag in her mouth being terrorised by men in ski masks.

I complained to Virgin Atlantic and they stated that customers demand this sort of content, and there's no technology to stop other passengers seeing a persons screen.

Other 18 certificate films on display during my flight included Girl With A Dragon Tattoo, I suppose I should be relieved I didn't have to explain why the middle aged man was tied up and anally raped with an 'object'.

I'm new to complaining and campaigning, any advice as to how I try and get some pressure on VA would be appreciated.

Sadly it is not just Virgin who have tese kind of films. I think most of the long hauls that show films have such a range.

Dh and I have commented on it before, because you can see your neighbour's screen or other passenger's screens as you walk by, and it really isn't appropriate on a family flight.

I think there such be more monitoring going on on these long haul flights and 18 cert films are not really appropriate at all in such a loation. Unless they can make some form of device that goes round the screen to shield it from other passengers parhaps?

Do you think it would be helpful if they had Family seating areas?

By the way, the Girl With teh Dragon Tattoo is a BRILLIANT film and book, but as you say, not appropriate if sitting next to a 5 year old. I think it is rated 15 which I found surprising.
