Typical Channel 4 TV

They set up a contest between two so called experts on "Getting Baby to Sleep"
(Tues 3rd Aug.)

There was a tough love expert. (whats that)

And a more kindly lady. (TL won.)

No, I am not making it up. cheers.

I thought it was a crap programme to be honest. - It seemed they were omre interested in the competition as opposed to helping the families. I also think they didn't give very much detailed information or instruction for viewers if they wanted to try the methods.
The more "Kindly" lady's nominated child did more crying than the tough love who talked about "crying it out" & how can anyone really think the word "love" is involved in taking away EVERY SINGLE item of comfort from a baby/child???
Still - I guess they all thought it made good TV.

Totally agree woobie. The CC twins appeared to do no crying at all and the kindly lady's method involved more crying than I've ever experience in CC.

I felt the kindly lady totally contradicted herself as well- she kept going on about how her method doesn't take things away, it gives. Then after the first week she removed all bottles/comforters . I thought it was cruel to have the parents in the room with a screaming baby and not be allowed any contact.

In my opinion the so called kindly woman's method was anything but, I'd definitely rather have the TL lady.

I haven't watched the programme. Ofcourse tough love gets quick results, but at what cost to the baby's mental wellbeing?

Here here reallytired!
I think one thing surely everyone can agree with in the world is that all children / babies are individuals.
Yes I know some methods work really well & get results time after time, but it appeared to me that the key is to "TWEAK" any method you choose to suit your child. (& you!!)
