Offensive men's t-shirt sold by Peacocks

It was my 17 year old daughter who spotted the t-shirt with the slogan "I like drunk girls" and emailed Peacocks to complain. This the response:
"As a company we always welcome feedback from our customers, and as a matter of course, I have discussed the details of your concern with my colleagues in our Buying Department, to make them aware of your comments regarding the t-shirt.
Although this particular line has been well received by many of our customers, nevertheless, our Buying Department has welcomed your views, and my colleagues have assured me that moving forward, they will be more mindful in their selection of slogans in the future."

My colleagues have advised that it would never be their intention to cause any offence, and as such, they have asked me to convey their apologies for any offence which may have been caused by the slogan on the t-shirt."
I also went into a local branch and complained to the manager, who passed on my complaint to head office, who replied in similar vein. We don't think this is good enough. The t-shirt should be withdrawn from sale in this family store immediately. if you agree, please email Peacocks and / or complain in your local branch.

This doesn't bother me, I'd read it as a Tshirt worn by a loser who can only have a chance with women who have lost all sense of discrimination and taste through alcohol.
Because anyone sober would run a mile.

Their whole email is really slippery and totally sidesteps any apology or any responsibility!! There's no 'we' (Peacocks). The person writing the mail refers to 'my colleagues'. It's the equivalent of being bounced around a switchboard. Also, the matter has been discussed not because the person responding to you acknowledges your son's point!, but "as a matter of course". That's pretty rude imo.

I know what goblinchild means though. I shudder imagining the sort of guy who would wear this t-shirt.

i don't care what sort of guy would wear this tshirt, a girl being drunk has been one too many times an excuse for date rape. mn should pay more attention to this campaign. i would never have expected it from peacoks, i will certainly complain.i will promote this thread in others, see if we get more people.

This really is disgusting. We need to get more of a response on here and then email them with a link to the thread.

Although, at least if you see a man wearing it you know he's a twat.. sometimes they do go undetected if they dont have labels on

I think one individual t-shirt, not much problem, and would also look at any guy wearing it and think "loser"

BUT the general nature of t-shirts like this bugs me, the fact that they're everywhere, creating a general view that men are only after sex and women are there to be either shagged or dismissed as ugly.

would definitely support a campaign on this, well done for the complaint but I think it'd be better on a general level rather than individually targeting one store - they didn't start this, they are only jumping on the bandwagon because loads of brands are doing it so the demand is there IYSWIM. not that it really excuses them.

i agree is quite a general problem, i think a campaign on dignity for boys and young men is in order.
