I had this one which was pretty good.

I'd recomend that you come and join us on the multiples mums thread though, you will learn everything you need to know there!

Congratulations

Congratulations! We'll stick the kettle on if you pop in to our thread . I had Twins and Multiple Births, Dr Carol Cooper and didn't find it very helpful, (just telling you so you can avoid it ).

Congratulations! We multiple mums are a very select bunch y'know, not just anyone is as lucky as us

I read the Carol Cooper one and it scared me, although quite informative too. Double Trouble is a more light-hearted look at it all, but also still quite informative. The standard pregnancy books also cover multiples, not in such detail but the basics are the same anyway do join in on the thread Kelly and frumpy have mentioned, I'm about to crack open the wine

Thanks everyone, once I'm over the initial shock I'll pop into the thread and read some of the advice.

I'll keep an eye out for the double trouble book too, thanks.

Bibi I know it is a major shock at first - it took me a few weeks to really come to terms with being pregnant with twins, all I could think about was how hard and expensive it would be (and I was right!) but it is also an absolute joy and you will be ok, once you get your head round it!
order double trouble now!

Hi Bibi!

Just a quick note on the book front (except it won't be cos I never do a quick post!).

Twins! by some american doctors is rubbish.

Double Trouble by Emma Mahoney is v good and practical.

Having twins by Dr Elizabeth Noble is the best! Both practical and theoretical. Lots of great info about pregnancy and birth; good focus on the natural side of twin births with a reasonable look at the complications. Doesn't scare you witless and is well-written.

Carol Cooper - don't bother! Scarey and it doesn't need to be. Also describes NHS system for twins, but I didn't find it to match my experience down here - fortunately!

You can also get some good literature from the Multiple Birth Foundation website. Some of it's very plain speaking so can be a bit scarey and only for people who want to know every bad bit of twins as well as the good bits. They also do parenting classes so if you're in London they'd be worth contacting.

Hope that helps!
