Just thought I would share with all of you a book that I followed religiously when i had my twin boys, it helped me to establish a strong routine, and had both of my boys sleeping through by 11 weeks. It is written by a mother of twins, so obviously she undertands completely the diffulties we all face. The book was called "Baby Secrets" by Barbara Want & Jo Tantum honestly guys it was a god send, I just wished they did another one for potty training !!! Good luck guys...

I couldn't agree more - it is the only book I would recommend to twin Mums, I have read it so many times I know it by heart.

My twins now 8 weeks (corrected) and sleeping 10:30pm-7am! We have followed the book to the letter right from the start - I think being consistant from day 1 has really paid off.

I wish they had written another book on... what to do from 5pm to bedtime! Mine turn from two lovely ladies into screaming babies from hell, I've heard they grow out of this but can't happen soon enough

Or - how to answer the same annoying twins questions a million times! I am tempted to put a sign on my buggy that says:

"Yes they are twins, they are identical, twins do run the family, they were conceived naturally"

Hi Mars - it covers little babies and what to do from the start, up to about 6mths. I'm too scared to even contemplate what challenges await me after this bit, still trying crack the sleep thing!

You mean you haven't printed leaflets which you put in a pocket on the buggy (and I mean a BIG pocket) so that you can just hand them out? lol

Just joined mums net and scanning the twins pages - this is the best advice out there - the baby secrets book is incredible - all mums of twins should get it - sleeping through the night at 12 weeks is possible. Mine are just about there, and life suddenly becomes good again, and you stop feeling like a crazy zombie - hurrah!

I agree too! Used it loosely for my two from day two and have now got babies who go to bed beautifully at 7.30 and feed again at 8 the next morning. I'd like to say they sleep all that time, but last night DT2 had a bit of a party by himself around 3am for about an hour. Quite happy, just doing lots of spooky groaning as is his way.

For sleeping problems, FG always recommends the Dr Steven Ferber book. I'm about to get hold of a copy just in case I need it.

OK, so someone tell me how the hell you get a baby to stay awake for 15 mins after feeding and got to sleep when you want them to! I've had a go at the Baby Secrets idea and so far have failed!
I'm not complaining , but I can't even get my 3 week olds to last 2 1/2 hours between feeds (including during the night)! The boys have started to be much more awake in the morning and won't sleep and during hte afternoon its impossible to keep them awake at all. Evenings they are wide awake again and want to feed constantly!

leo mine never stayed awake after feeding, for the first few weeks they did nothing but feed and sleep so don't worry (tho I did at the time!)

Dear all,

Opps - didn't see the information about mentioning a certain author...sorry...hence my last message being deleted...

Sometimes it is simply easier to take elements of sleep books and fit them to your individual baby.

This is what we did, as the babies they wrote about seemed to be so co-operative, but mine never reacted the way it was written.

As a result I was made to feel a failure, or like I was doing something wrong.

IMHO Perhaps treat the books as an aid rather than a bible. All your little ones are individuals and I don't think that all books can cover each and every little personality.

Don't worry, they get alot less sleepy eventually - mine at around 6 weeks, and you can only follow the book loosely - but it really will work - just as you are about to give up hope of ever sleeping again!! There is nothing you can do to keep a sleepy new born awake, but thats a good thing, as they really need to just eat and sleep at first. Hang on in there leoladyofleisure.
