twins getting too big for tandem rugby hold position

Have a U shaped feeding cushion that has seen me well through the first 3 months of tandem feeding my babies. But now they are getting too long and their legs get all squashed against sofa back/bed head board and they have started to complain (not verbally, I hasten to add, but the odd grizzle!). Any suggestions on how I can continue to tandem feed, haven't got enough time to do one after another! Thanks.

I never used a cushion, I used to adopt a kind of vertical hold/biological nurturing, with me reclining slightly on a bed or sofa. Hard to explain so let me try and find an image of it...

So kind of like the first picture on here - laid back feeding. Worked for me until about 8/9 months when DS turned into a biter so I started feeding them separately!

Try ditching the U cushion and use a couple of regular cushions, then instead of having them under your arms like rugby balls, try positioning the babies with their legs and bodies extending out to the sides, rather than behind you. Or, cradle hold with both facing the same way, so one baby is lying partly on the other.

Have you tried putting a couple of pillows behind your back? That way, the cushion will be a bit further from the sofa back so more room for legs to stretch out. I mostly feed laying down on the bed now, a bit like ceeveebee but my head on 2 pillows with both babies in the crook of an arm - they're 9 months, when I started doing this I propped them on a pillow (folded in half) at each side .

My twins are 9 months and I still do tandem rugby hold on a BF cushion!!

Second putting cushions behind your back. I fold a pillow in half and stuff that behind me. They hang off the end but don't seem to mind too much.

Also at that stage I started to do a few feeds separately as they were getti quicker and could entertain themselves briefly while the other one fed

Thanks for all the tips everyone, the double pillow trick seems to be working!
