Hospital Bag

Hi all, was just wondering when I should have my hospital bag packed. I am 22+5 atm so thinking its too soon. However, I have read in a few places to have it packed by 26 weeks, is this really necessary?

Also any advice on what I need to take for me and two babies. I was thinking of doing a bag that will be needed straight away and then a bag that DP can bring up afterwards.

Thanks in advance.

Time is going quickly for you franykins!

I had everything I needed for my hospital bag bought by 28 weeks and I started packing it around 30 weeks. My consultant told me to have it ready by 32 weeks. I had packed most of it by 34 weeks but DP had to rush home and finish packing it when I was admitted unexpectedly at 34+5.

I did various bags...
Labour bag
Bag for me for my stay in hospital
Bag for the babies
Bag with spare bits that was left in the car
Spare nappies in the car

The Tamba threads have extensive lists of things to take with you.

My tips would be...
Tescos maternity pads are really good and only 99p
Take your own pillow
Take light pajamas and dressing gown, the hospital is boiling hot, even in winter.
Take comfortable things to wear that don't look too pajamarey in case you need to visit the babies in special care.
Ask DP to bring you lots of drinks/water you get very thirsty

That's all I have time for now! Will post again if I think of any other good tips.

Tell me about it neversleepagain I don't know where the last 18 weeks have gone! I am getting more and more excited and showed DP the bubbas new 'trick' last night haha. The old phone trick so he could see when they are kicking as you can't feel them from the outside yet. He just laughed and said very cute.

How are you doing?

Thank you for the bag advice, will note this all down.

Oh how much do I need to take for the babies? I was thinking 4 vests and 4 sleepsuits (2 each) 2 hats, 2 cardigans and nappies. Than I can pack an extra bag with stuff for if they need to stay in longer. I must be forgetting something very important though.

I would pack 4 vests and 4 sleepsuits each.
One cardigan each
2 hats each (the ones they put on as soon as they are born gets quite manky)
Muslins

Like you said, the rest can stay in the car.

All good here, the girls are 10 months old and desperate to start crawling!

Thank you Cornwall73 I'll have a look through Smile Time has flown!

Haha HystericalParoxysm I have no idea! It's just gone so quickly! I'm in slight panic mode atm that we won't get everything sorted, and then I think 'Oh DP is so practical, he'll sort it all in time' I'm just waiting to get paid next week so I can go on another shopping spree, really want to get the cot/s and car seats asap - can you see I'm worrying haha. How are you doing? If I'm correct your about 16 weeks? Or there about?

Although it's gone so quickly I'm really enjoying being pregnant Smile this week we have played the phone game and watched the bubbas make it move and DP has started talking to my massive bump, love it Grin
