Hi my identical twin boys have both suffered with illness relating to blood sugar.
Following, what I considered minor, sickness and/or questionable poo we have discovered them both (6 months apart) almost unconscious due to blood sugar being too low. In one twin he quickly became completely unresponsive when we went to get them up in the morning. These have been horrendous experiences, one was only on Friday.
The hospital cannot provide any answers as to why their bodies have not been able to regulate their blood sugar following what we are told is gastroenteritis (for any medically mums on fri the paramedics found his level on fri to be 1.8). And tests have all been normal so far....but surely this is not normal?!
Has anybody experienced any unusual illnesses that have presented in identical twins? Should I be pushing for further investigation now its happened to both or is this no more worrying than something happening to one singleton?? They do after all have the same genes!
I'm really interested to know if this often happens with ID twins.
