Poor immune systems?

Hi,

Our twin DSs (2 years old) are currently suffering from some kind of stomach bug. Periodically throughout the day, usually about half an hour after eating of drinking something (but sometimes at random) they will violently vomit pretty much everything in their stomach. Sometimes there may be very little, just bile. This seems to happen every 2-4 hours and happens during the night too. Its been going on for about 2 days now for one twin and the other had it for the same amount of time prior to his brother getting it and appears to be getting a bit better.

Thing is, they've each had this sort of thing for about the last 18 months, roughly every 4-8 weeks. Sometimes longer, but on the whole they seem to get this horrible bug every couple of months. Actually, they hadn't had a bug like this for about 4 months, but bang, here it is back again.

Is this normal? I mean, everyone's different I guess, but this seems like a lot of bugs to be catching. We're not dirty people and keep our house as clean as we can. We don't catch what they have either on the whole.

Do you think this is anything to be worried about. We used to take them to the Doctors, but unsurprisingly, the doctor wasn't worried provided the bug cleared up quickly,

Anyone else have an experience like this?

Thanks

Matt

Hi, were they premature? My ds was prem and (now 14months) has got a very poor immune system. He seems to be ill more or less constantly. I've started to get embarrassed when I have to take him to the drs/ooh/hospital for the umpteenth time.
We've started to give him half a pro biotic yogurt a day, to help build his immunity. It may work, it may not but It's worth a try.

Hopefully someone with tried and tested advice will come along soon

Hi I was finding mine kept getting cold after cold. I give them each a teaspoon of manuka honey (12 strength) with their breakfast cereal. It has really made a difference in boosting their immunity

Hope they are all better soon x

I think it's just some children do pick up everything that's going round. I have got friends who have children who are constantly ill.
My Dts were also prem and one went through a phase of having one cold after the other, while the other never gets ill. My 2 were not seriously prem though- 30 weekers so it would be unlikely to effect them anyway.
I have heard that echinacea is good for boosting your immune system - not too sure how it works or if it is suitable for dc.
Good Luck, hope you get a break from it soon.
