Another twin question - bump size!

Hi all... me again!

I wondered what everyone else was/is like in terms of size.

I am 14 weeks tomorrow and I an about the size of a 20 week single pregnancy (maybe even more but I was about this big is ds when around 20 weeks).
When they had a feel of my tummy at 9 weeks, she did say I was about the size of 15/16 weeks so roughly 6 weeks ahead.
the last growth spurt seemed to happen in the 48 hours and I woke up and it just suddenly seemed massive. Also, they seem to move and make my tummy go bigger on the left side every now and then (almost slightly cone-shaped!) This did happen with ds but not until about 25 weeks!

At the moment I feel like I am going to keep growing into a giant round ball like Violet Beauregard in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

You will grow a gargantuan bump.

Mine was gargantuan. I measured 45 weeks when I was 34 weeks. A tape measure couldn't fit around my bump, it measured 66cm around. My DTs were born at 34+5 and weighed 6lb1 & 5lb7. Consultant who did EMCS said my 2 placentas had merged into one giant one!

The last 4 weeks of my pregnancy were awful. Painful hips, painful legs. Hurt to do pretty much anything!

I also used to get a cone shaped bump, particularly in the mornings.

Oh dear! That sounds very very VERY uncomfortable indeed! Confused

Were yours non ID?

I have heard that Non ID twins tend to be bigger (and like, you said, two placentas!) than ID twins. Mine are ID so I'm clinging on to this piece of information for as long as I can!

I have non ID twins, I was huge. My bump went over my knees when I sat down, and yes sometimes it grows over night and just when you think you can't get any bigger - you do.

Mine was renamed the Millenium Dome, which was being built at the time.

Hahaha. I felt huge, but looking round twin clinic I was relatively small. My DTs were non-identical too. The bump did seem more pointy on one side to me.

i am tall so didn't look that big until 7 months when i became pretty huge. In fact, i wasn't really showing until about 16 weeks.
i went to 38 weeks and was bloody enormous by the end. i didn't realise quite how big at the time and i got quite a shock looking at photos the other day! mine were non id too though and the boy was really big - over 7lbs and he was in a lot of liquid.
i couldn't sleep lying down the last couple of weeks cos it was just so huge.....!!
worth it though because you get two gorgeous babies out of it!

I was ENORMOUS by the end - i finished work at 30 weeks as I couldn't hack it any more. My twins were quite big though, DTS 7lb3oz, and DTD 5lbs7oz, and I'm only 5'3".

I was uncomfortable much of the time, but it wasn't actually painful, IYSWIM, just heavy and achy. I was very glad when they arrived!

I am nearly 35 weeks and HUGE! Am only 5"3 - I measured 42 wks at 31 wks... Another doctor's appt tomorrow and I'm dreading the tape measure!

I have been pretty mobile until recently (can still touch my toes!) but my bump has got very very very heavy in the past week. And it sticks out the sides! as in my waist goes in a bit and then the bump starts to go out in true "swallowed a beach ball" fashion, both in front and to the sides. And my hips are very achey. The next 3 weeks are not going to be fun.

I do recommend doing yoga or Pilates as regularly as you can - the core strength and flexibility really helps support everything. If this was a singleton, I reckon I would have sailed through it and I think Pilates has had a lot to do with that.

I didn't measure but was told I was measuring full term at 26 weeks. My bump was very lop sided,DS was bigger than DD, 9 lb 2 v 5 lb 10. I was pretty uncomfortable towards the end but was able to work till 35 weeks. It did feel like the underside of the bump was about to split, but it never got really really bad.

The comments you get ..... I'd find a snappy retort now, wish I had Smile
