Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Could I be pregnant again - 4wk after m\c HCG question.

Well, I miscarried at 5 weeks 30days ago, and my blood was tested for HCG and the results were vv low 2.9, ie. not pg.

I did an HPT yesterday, and got 'pregnant 1 - 2 weeks- as a result.

I know it's likely that HCG can stay in the blood after m\c, but could I still get a false positive 4 weeks after a result of 2.9??

Yours responses would be most welcome - I am driving myself bonkers ruminating on this until I can get a blood test done !

Hi,

I would think that it is so that you are indeed pg again, the experts say that you are most fertile post-mc so it could be so. Especially if you have regular cycles normally and were still actively trying.

As far as i'm aware (and i mc at just under 6 weeks) the hgc levels drop dramatically after mc so for them to be high enough for a Clearblue HPT at this stage would be highly unlikely.

I would say (tentatively) you are pg again - congratulations

Do another test in a few days (or a week if you can manage the wait) and see if you get 'pg - 2-3 weeks' result which will prove it, or of course like you say get some bloods done.

Relax and try not to stress at all, be calm and see what happens over the next few days/weeks.

Best of luck xx

I miscarried at just over 5 weeks less than 2 weeks ago - checked and got a BFN this morning.

Tentative congratulations

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It does sound like you are pregnant again.

I miscarried at 6 weeks, and five weeks later had a positive pregnancy test, and nine months later, ds was born.

Good luck!

I think but don't quote me that you need at least 10ml MINIMUM HCG per summat or other to get a positive result and to get a 1-2 weeks result I think your HCG must have risen since your bloods (unless your 2.9 was on a diff scale- ie. maybe they measure blood and wee diff and 2.9 means summat else) . But defo keeping fingers crossed for you, and it sounds very promising. I am waiting for ov following MMC two weeks ago so I love reading hopeful stories like this.....

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all of your comments...I am going to see my GP tonight to ask for a blood test, so fingers crossed.

And, if I am pregnant, then Thandeka should take heart....I have been ttc for 3 years and the pregnancy I miscarried came about as a result of fertility treatment. If I am pregnant now, then it would be a natural one!!

So perhaps there is something in it when people say women can be ripe to conceive immediately after m/c!

Watch this space...

God...I am so wrapped up in myself - sorry to hear of your experiences, and I will definitely let you know what happened. I have also read a lot of hopeful stories, that make you think 'onwards and upwards' after the initial shock. I have never seen any stats about it yet though, but quite a few people recount successes - I just hope I am not reading too much into it!

Hi, I convinced a sceptical GP to send me for blood test, and had blood drawn plus urine sample this a.m. - hopefully I can collect results tomorrow, but I do feel preg - tits like beach balls!

Also, I got an email back from the nurse at Barts fertility clinic, and she reckons if my bloods were as low as 2.9 it should not show up on a home pregnancy test...recommended getting another blood test done.

I will let you know the result, and if I am pregnant, then no doubt I will have to join the knicker checkers brigade as I will be panicking that I will lose it again.

Well good news!! My blood bhcg level on Wednesday was 66.1, which is low, but it had more than trebled today to over 200!

So this is definitely a new natural pregnancy, although I will be keeping my fingers crossed that those hcgs keep doubling.

Thanks for all your lovely support everyone. I will let you all know how my bloods are next week!
