Question about post m/c periods

Sorry to be really honest and TMI but I am feeling a bit worried and am wondering if anyone can help me/tell me to stop being a hypochondriac.

I have just come on with my 3rd AF post MC. 28 days after the last so that's good but a)I am not sure I have ovulated yet (no ewcm just a bit of watery stuff then pains from about 4 days after I thought I should have ovulated)

Now I am 'on' the bleeding is like bleeding you would expect to see if you cut your hand rather than the dark and sort viscous/thick 'normal' blood like it used to be.

Is this just one of those things? or should I see a gynae?

apologies again for TMI
and

TIA

Hi Sifuentes just thought I should post after seeing this. It could be one of those things because I think I am in the same boat as you. I had a mc around Xmas Eve, no heartbeat on scan on 29 Dec (bean was 10 weeks) and opted for ERPC 31 Dec. I bled for 21 days (albeit v. light) after ERPC then stopped, then what I thought was AF came 7 days after that. Next AF was normal cycle, 28 days, but again it was not my usual type of bleed (bright red, not as viscous and lasting longer than usual - hey, I can do TMI too!). I am now sat here on CD21 wondering if I have ovulated...I tested with OPK starting day 13 and got weak signals on CD15 and CD16 (they count as negatives though) then nothing for the last few days. On CD18 I felt what I thought were ovulation pains but no BFP on the OPK (usually would feel pains earlier, like you say).

I don't know what is going on myself but from posts on here I think some ladies take several months to go back to normal. I would try not to worry - that's what I'm doing! I am glad I read your post as I realise I'm not the only one out there experiencing this strange cycle - hopefully you will be able to take comfort that you're not alone as well. I have no prior experience of any of this, it was my first mc. I am 35. This board has been a godsend over the last few months, I know I'd be much more worried without it.

Hope this helps, all the best.

Hi girls I'm in the same boat. Miscarried in November and first three periods were all over the place (heavier with several days of spotting before the red flow). I've never had this before. Currently on my 4th cycle and it's the first time I haven't spotted (period due today or tomorrow) so I hope this means I am back to normal. I have been ovulating (checked with OPKs) but have had very little EWCM whereas before it was incredibly abundant.

Doctor said first three months would be like this so haven't panicked just yet. He also said that increased fertility after miscarriage is a myth -- some women's cycles return to normal immediately after whilst others take several months. I guess I fall into the latter category.

Hope this offers some comfort....

Hello

I am 34 days after my (early, non medical) mc. When do you think a period is expected? Normally about 32 day cycle.

Hi I had a mmc in Nov 08 at 10 weeks, and am pretty sure I didn't ovulate until the 3rd cycle after that. I was temping and my temps were all over the place until that 3rd cycle. My actual periods were heavier and more painful if anything, and a couple of days late, which is very unusual for me. I also had very little ewcm. This didn't seem to matter though as I did get pregnant in that 3rd cycle. Unfortunately I had another mmc and had an ERPC last week, but that is another story........

Best of luck to you all in the future

Thanks for your answers everyone. clarey it does sound like for some it just takes longer to get back to normal. And I too had heard that the increased fertility thing is a myth. I think it's like when they say a bird shitting on your head is good luck. It's something to make you feel better after something terrible has just happened.

Thankfully this AF has ended up been a bit more normal again. I am really hoping that three months is sufficient recovery time and that my body will do what it is supposed to this time around.

babyboom I too used to gets loads of EWCM right when I was supposed to and have barely seen it since. I have bought some grapefruit juice now though and will do the stick thing too this month. If there is an egg to be fertilised I will not let it out of my sights this time!

Scorpio I have been lurking on your other thread waiting to see if and when your AF will start! Unfortunately the answer is who knows i felt premenstrual for ages before mine came. It's shit isn't it. Hopefully it has already come and you are feeling a bit better again.

chinook I am so so so sorry to hear that you have had a second miscarriage. I really recommend that you see a naturopath as by looking closely at you and your DP then a good one really can help. I can give you details of an excellent one in London if that is any good for you/ if you're interested.

Fingers crossed for all of us. I am now very bored of this recovery game!

xx

Hi I am in Surrey so details of a London naturopath would be great. Thank you very much. I am really keen to try alternative options. The NHS don't want to know until you have had 3 miscarriages and I have 'only' had 2. And as I already have a dd no-one seems to think it could be anything other than bad luck, and I am not so sure.

Good luck to all

Hi suifentes - no, no period yet!cd36. I'm not in too much of a rush, the mc was my fourth baby( i have 3 dc), and it has made me have wobbles about ttc again, so in a way it is giving me breathing space

That's good to hear - Just as long as the pmt isn't driving you nuts, Scorpio !

chinookshe is in Richmond and is called Sarah Bowles Flannery. She has a website if you google her she will pop up. Don't tell her you heard about her threw me because she will work out who i am!!

Only one person who has seen her went on to have another miscarriage and they had some serious blood clotting disorder so I have faith!! Costs a bit - but my attitude is kind of- anything that might help...

I am having a weird period too and am stressing out because I had to have 2 ERPCs for my last miscarriage. I had the first ERPC on 6 Feb. I then had the 2nd ERPC on the 18th Feb. I went to see consultant on 3 March because I thought I might have an infection and he scanned me to make sure everything was alright. He said I wouldn't ovulate for another week at least as the lining of the uterus was still very thin. Literally a week later my period started. 2 days of bleeding which was redder than normal (usually more purple but it's been 6 months since my last one as I got pregnant straight after 1st mc). It stopped for 2 days, I bled for a day, stopped for 2 days and now I am bleeding again. I am worried from reading the other thread on Ashermans.... Any thoughts anyone?

I'm sure it's fine pecanpie it's just all so disconcerting. if it keeps stopping and starting then you should prob have it checked out but it will hopefully stop of it's own accord very soon.
good luck xx ( i am afraid i know nothing about asherman's)
