Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Does anyone know when it's ok to start exercising again after a MC?

I had a very early MC at 5 weeks on Saturday.

The leaflet I was given at the hospital covers various things. but I was wondering if anyone knew when it was ok to start excercising again cos that's not in the leaflet? Maybe 2 weeks? Do you think I should see my GP before restarting any exercise?

I feel like now the MC's happened that I'd like to try and get back in my normal routine again as soon as possible...

Thanks in advance.

I think you need to listen to your body and just do what you feel able. Exercise will certainly help to lift your mood.

I had a very traumatic natural MC at 11+5 and spent pretty much 2 weeks on the sofa, recovering from the physical and mental shock. I did try to go back to my normal routine afterwards but really struggled for a couple of weeks - felt really weak and wobbly with no energy whatsoever. After far too long, I went back to the GP who said I should have been prescribed iron tablets as the extreme blood loss had left me very anaemic.

Soooo - I'd try gentle exercise and see how you get on, but don't push yourself, and if you are struggling after a couple of weeks, double check that you're not anaemic

HTH

sorry to hear about your mc. i don't see the problem with exercising at any point and totally understand why you'd like to get back to your normal routine.
I can't see why there would be any need to see your GP unless you feel unwell....your miscarriage was very early indeed - in physical terms more like a late period (not in emotional terms, of course) so i don't see it should have to impact on your exercise routine if getting exercise makes you feel better and as if things are going back to normal. with my three miscarriages i was keen to get back to running/cycling asap and just started as soon as i had the energy.
i'm not a dr though.

Thanks ladies and I'm v sorry to hear of your MC's too. It's rotten isn't it.

I've carried on taking pregnacare as i think its a good multivit and because it contains iron so hopefully I wont develop anaemia.

So far I soooo do just feel like vegging on the sofa but I think getting moving again might help - I'll take it easy to start off with and see how I get on.

I wish you both luck for sticky beans in the future.

I had a miscarriage on 11th march at 13+5. I have been back in the gym gently this week more for the social side than anything as my partner works away.
Physically everything is fine but I am the sort of person who is best being busy and had allowed myself to go to peices after my first miscariage exactly six years ago. Not able to do that this time as i now have two children and a horse!
I feel that you should listen to your body and do only what feels ok for you.
This was also my attitude during my last pregnancy which included riding my my horse till 7 months training in the gym til 8 month and aquanatal til I was in labour! It may make some midwives uneasy but I have had 2 perfect water births with no additional pain relief.
Obviously if you have any concerns seek
medical advice
Actually, perhaps I'm just mad, any thoughs?
