Hi

I think others have asked similar questions but if anyone can help...

I had med management 2 days after xmas following MMC. I didn't take the initial oral tab but went straight to pessary. I had an episode of vv heavy bleeding and a few occasions where larger clots passed. But it's coming up to 5 weeks this thurs and I m still bleeding.

I spoke to my nurse at the EPU last week and she said I now needed to take the test- there was a vv feint line so she said loks like its negative. however since then the bleeding has got heavier!! I don't feel ill and there is no sign of infection (i think) but now I m worried again. I feel foolish to keep ringing EPU but they did say to ring if concerned.

Could this be my period or is it still preg material that hasn't passed.

To top off everything I had a car accident on Thurs- the day after my birthday! I feel very low at the moment.

Did they scan you after to make sure your womb was empty? It doesnt sound like its your period as you have had no break from this bleeding,it sounds like there may be tissue still left from your MMC.

Sorry you are having to go through this by the way, i can empathise with you has had MMC at 12 weeks which ended with me hospitalised due to heavy blood loss (yesterday). Hospital told me if bleeding looked like it was tailing off then got heavier it was a sign some of the tissue was still retained.

Why didn't you take the oral tab?

What follow up have you had?
They should have scanned you to check you had passed everything

Thanks- I didn't take the tab because I cannot swallow them aqnd as I had already started to bleed and was having cramps they said it should be fine to go to next stage.

The follow up has been just to speak to the nurses at the epu every week to give an update- there was mention of a scan if the preg test was pos but as it was neg they said the bleeding should stop. I m going to ring them again tomorrow but it's just so frustrating to be bleeding now for over a month.

AEPU Guidelines - link to pdf on LHS suggest you should have had a follow up appt

Either insist they see you or go to your GP

Thanks EldonAve- I just read ythe section on MMC and it does say that follow up is required. I m going to see how things go tonight and ring tomorrow whatever happens.

IN fact I hav seen my GP but to be honest it was a complete waste of time. Being male I found him to be unhelpful and although he was polite, he told me nothing I didn't know already.

I ll see what happens tomorrow when I ring.
