Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Does this sound like the start of a miscarriage?

I am 8 weeks pregnant. I have hyperemesis and have had diarrhoea for the last three days. I am wondering if this is causing a miscarriage. I had some sharp pains last night, have had heavy, thick, vaginal discharge since yesterday morning and now some pink spotting. My lower abdomen feels tight - like it's about to start cramping. Also, despite having had hyperemesis (extreme form of morning sickness) today I don't feel sick. Does this sound like the start of other people's miscarriages?

Do you have an early pregnancy unit you could contact? I think you should see someone today. You need to rule out an ectopic pregnancy as diarrhea, sharp pains and spotting are all symptoms. I don't want to worry you, but I do think you should be seen today.

Other possibilities are miscarriage (as you say); or an infection - a urinary tract infection.

Thanks.

I was in hospital earlier yesterday for rehydration as sickness and diarrhoea had been so severe. They asked me then if I had any bleeding or discharge but hadn't started at that point. The early pregnancy unit is closed over the weekend so can't contact them until Monday.

I've already had one scan as this pregnancy was a surprise and I didn't know when we had conceived. The scan confirmed that the pregnancy is intra-uterine so I'm not worried about it being ectopic.

I suppose I can only wait and see how things progress.

Hi Benjy - I hope things get easier for you and you are able to get some reassurance on Monday. Thinking of you.
