Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

mc, hcg levels, next period?

I just recently had my 3rd mc (on New Year's day)! Anyway, my doc says she will run a bunch more tests but first I have to wait for my hcg level to go down to below 5. Last week it was at 75. She said when it goes back down I might bleed again but that's not my period. She said my period will come after that.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and can tell me when I can expect my period. I just don't want to be confused the next time I start bleeding because what if I don't bleed when the hcg level goes back down and I don't realize I'm actually starting a period.

Also wondering if anyone has had issues with progesterone, clotting, antibodies? I'm getting tests done and just curious if success was met after issues were found with those.

Thanks for your insight. Eat pizza, drink wine, and be hopeful...

Hi Daynee, sorry to hear of your loss . I can't help you on this query but thought I'd sympathize. In same boat myself, I had a mmc (first, at 9w 6d) and ERPC for it on New Year's Eve. From what I've read on these boards you can expect 4 weeks to 3 months for it to come back (hoping mine doesn't take that long) but then there are loads who ttc right away and become pg without even getting a period. Good luck with your next attempt

Daynee - we've chatted on other threads. I hope you are feeling ok at the moment. The last day of my mc was last Monday and that was when the last piece of tissue came away (sorry if TMI). I stopped bleeding completely at the weekend. I have just done a hpt and got a BFN so my hormone levels have dropped quite quickly.

Obviously I am still waiting for AF and have no idea when it will arrive. According to one quite good website it usually arrives around 30 or so days after the last piece of tissue passes but there is obviously a huge variation. I guess if your cycles tend to be longer or more irregular it will be a longer wait.

I am interested to know this too because I had what i thought was first AF exactly 28 days after the main bit of the MC began (18th Dec I think but was all such a daze...) and felt pleased that my clever body was sorting itself out so well so quickly, however it was very weird bleeding (sorry for TMI)sort of watery and not like normal AF. Anyway have been feeling very premenstrual now. Totally mental. Really up then really down then really angry. Eating like a horse and have weird feelings downstairs. Actually did a test 'just in case' because felt like early stretching, even though I new I wasn't cos not yet ttc'ed.

So perhaps I am only expecting arrival of first proper AF now?? I don't really care as long as I ovulate 2 weeks after she gets here because I am really wanting to get up the duff again now!

I feel like I am way too all over the place to hold down my job at the moment. Just have to try my best to appear sane...uhghghhg

Hey fanny - Well, luckily I did get my af last week, right on schedule. It came exactly 30 days after my mc had started heavily (Jan. 1). Obviously, I didn't count that whole week prior when I was spotting and bleeding lightly. I wasn't sure if it would come so soon because I had hcg level tested a few weeks after and it was still around 10 so I thought I might have to bleed a little again before actually getting the af. Apparently not. I've never had a d & c or anything. All 3 mc's I passed naturally. I think my body is good at expelling things, quickly and efficiently - lol! Let me know how things turn out!
Hi wasabi - How are things? I'm glad I got my af on time but now I'm waiting and waiting on some blood test results, then I have to wait for day 21 of cycle to take progesterone test. I wish I could start ttc but then I'd rather know if there's something wrong before getting preggers again. I don't know if I can bear going through this again.
sifuentes - Are you sure that "watery" bleed wasn't actually af, or was it really light? I hope you get it soon. I totally relate to being all over the place. I cry in my car sometimes when I listen to sweet songs. And at work, I'm just sort of going through the motions and wishing I could not be here for a while. It's tough because I teach so I have to be energetic and happy for my kids but in between classes, I'm sitting here at my desk running around the internet...I also am taking master's classes and I feel so darn overwhelmed. They say keeping busy helps to keep your mind off things and feel better...strange enough, that's not really the case for me right now. I'm much rather be at a warm beach for next few months, sipping margaritas and eating pasta pasta pasta...Well, keep me posted. I wish the best
XOXO

Sifuentes, what you describe sounds really familiar to me, apart from the watery af. Mine was light ish, but not mega light, after my first mc. I too congratulated myself for getting back in to my cycle quickly, because using opk's I detected LH surge 14 days after mc, and then af came 14 days after that. However I had really strong ov pains for a couple of days after I detected LH surge. Thing is, I had another mc a couple of weeks ago and I'm getting really strong ov pains again like last time (I'm assuming that's what it was, the sonographer who scanned me when I mc told me I'd ov'd from the right ovary, and the pain right now is on the left side) so I'm wondering if I'm going to have a really light af in a couple of weeks too. I'm starting to think that my first ov and af after a mc are kind of like practice runs and not the real thing, so although we're ttc I don't think it'll happen this month.

Morning All.

headfairy I think it must have been AF -just not the shock and awe one i was expecting. That's probably because I only had about one fluid ounce of blood left inside me afther the MC

Hoping this AF comes soon or else I may well end up being sectioned and that will make ttc very tricky indeed...

daynee you are making me dizzy with the amount you have on your plate at the moment. jeez louise - can you get away at half term? you need to just STOP! If you can. I know it's easier said than done.

I have been having fantasies of long haul beach destinations with muchos margharitas myself. But I might just let you push in the queue and go straight to the front. Not least because I am sure it is my turn to win the lottery

sifuentes - I'm still waiting on the beach and the margaritas. I've settled for weekends full of lounging, eating out at nice restaurants, movies, and plenty of red wine!

Thanks for understanding. I really don't know how I get thru some days. Those who haven't been thru this just don't understand. Most days, I leave as soon as possible to go home to peace and quiet.

HOw are you doing these days? Get your AF?

I'm currently ovulating and decided to ttc again. I'm still waiting on all the blood work and have asked my doc to give me progesterone if I get preggers. I keep thinking this must be the reason! We'll see how it goes!

Thinking of you. XOXO
